Espresso Cove Taupo — Restaurant in Waikato

Was so excited to try this cafe however we were left so disappointed! We ordered a kids munch box which includes Charlie's juice and we were told we can't pick our juice flavor due to it being randomly selected. I explained to the server if my child doesn't like the juice that's a waste of money. She spoke with her manager who was really rude and kept saying no under her breath which I could clearly hear. The server was really nice and told me she can ask the chef to put in the drink we wanted .. They also forgot her activity pack which we asked for at the end of our meal.

I also ordered a iced coffee with no cream and they bought it to us with "ice cream" . My husband and I couldn't stop laughing in shock. Apparently "that's how their coffees are made" . Fair enough, however when I specifically asked for no cream they could've advised us that it came with ICE CREAM, that was quite ridiculous. They did however change our order to no cream or ICE CREAM.

3rd and the worst. My husband's egg Benedict egg was so raw it smelt so bad! We were so put off we didn't want a replacement. All they offered us was another drink which we rejected.

The eggs Benedict cost us about $20.50 (here or there) forgot the exact amount. And the cafe were offering us a drink which was at $7 or so. We are so disappointed and so upset with the management service. She was so rude to the waitress who was telling her of the raw eggs Benedict. She was so loud and rude. We were the only brown family there and I'd Hate to think she was being racist, but her attitude makes me wonder different.

Such bad service, so...

Ordered a couple coffees however both coffees came with the almond milk split. Sent the coffee back and new coffees also came with split milk. Ordered nachos and the chips were old and stale. We politely asked one the staff to see what could be done about this and she gave us attitude. No apology was given and nothing was communicated and she simply came and placed the money on our table in an impolite manner. On the way out as well she proceeded to stare very rudely and made impolite comments. Would not recommend unless you wish to be greeted and dealt with impoliteness and attitude from the staff. Couldn’t even get as much as a small apology. Attitude just not good enough. Truely coming from Melbourne Australia coffee culture, this cafe experience was genuinely horrible. It’s not always about the money, staff should be able to accept polite criticism and improvements on their food and services. Food I am sure they can improve on however keep an eye out on...

Another not bad not great cafe I have visited. Location was spectacular overlooking lake Taupo and close to accomodation hence visiting for brunch. The only vegan option on the menu was 'sold out by 12pm. Do not order the creamy mushrooms the menu description and the final result are rather different. Mushrooms most likely blanched in boiling water for approx 2mins as still solid and creamy was not present, the sprinkle of parmesan was the only thing that may have resulted in this dish having some taste but with what appeared to be three sprinkles this did not help nor did the copious amounts of salt and pepper. Presentation however was fantastic and the coffee made was one of the best coffees I have had in a long time when out. Service was speedy and pleasant. Not all bad but definitley...
