Mike & Jenny's Kaka Point Accomodation — Hotel in South Island

Mike and Jenny's is a lovely place to stay as well as being extremely well priced. Jenny is a wonderful host, very friendly and full of useful information and tips for your stay; it was a pity we only had one night. We stayed downstairs in one large studio room with kitchenette (full size fridge, microwave, sink, toaster), ensuite and very comfy bed as well as a sofa, TV and dining table and chairs. There may have been a plug-in hotplate in a cupboard but we are muddled now if this was here or somewhere else so enquire if important to you. The unit was very clean. There is a nice garden with seating outside and steps leading down to the seafront. The local Tui's didn't want to put in an appearance for me (Jenny feeds them from the upstairs balcony) but just as we were leaving one obliged! ||It is helpful to bring your own food as we did as the pub/restaurant is not open some days and the nearest food supplies are in Owaka which is around 20 mins drive away but does have a comprehensive 4 square supermarket (better than we expected) and a couple of cafes. You do need to pay by cash if you don't have a NZ bank account but the price is so reasonable that is very easy. I had the most lovely stay. The property was easy to locate. Parking is right in front of the property. Mike and Jenny are such nice people. Thanks for the tip to the food cart. I had the yummy blue cod.|The room was big and well equipped. There was everything I need to make noodles but I had the fish and chips instead. |Everything was clean. The bed was large and super comfortable. There was a heated blanket which kept me toasty warm all night.|I would come back if I visit again. The view alone is great for relaxing. It’s better than beachfront. Its elevated position means no noise from traffic yet only a small flight of stairs and you are at the beach across the street. Our host Jenny was very warm, friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic about her neighbourhood. The studio room was spotlessly clean and tidy as well as being cosy yet spacious at the same time. Great kitchenette set-up and super comfy bed. Mike and Jenny have obviously invested in quality for their guests. Lovely little lawn area out the front with sensational views out to the water just across the road.
