Butch and Jo, the owner/operators, are so kind and welcoming and happy to help make your trip wonderful. They treated us as family. They lent us a fishing rod to fish in the river down the hill from the lodge. And invited us to golf with them and lent us sets of clubs. So sweet!||The area is beautiful, bucolic countryside with amazing rivers and lakes and mountains and welcoming small towns. ||The Rakaia River is down the hill and is your view out back from the unit. It is such a beautiful blue with a stone beach to chill out on. Bring bug spray to deter the sand flies, their bites itch but it’s a small price to pay. The view out back of the unit is of the river and gorge and Mt Hutt. Read moreOur stay at Mt. Hutt Lodge was absolutely fantastic! Jo and Butch, the owners, are an incredible and friendly couple who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The views from our accommodation were breathtaking, right out of the window you could see the stunning surroundings.

We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely be coming back. If you're planning a trip to this beautiful part of New Zealand, we highly recommend staying at Mt. Hutt Lodge. You won’t regret it!

The sign said they were closed so we turned around to leave, but the lovely lady who runs the lodge urged us through the door. Even though it was her and her husband's day off, they cooked us a beautiful meal so we wouldn't have to drive home hungry. Never have I met such hospitable, gracious business owners. The food was excellent, and from what we saw of the lodge itself, everything was clean and welcoming. Additionally, the view from the lodge is stunning. I...
