I was writing a book about hostels in Costa Rica and Panama. A review for the back packer for the two countries. i came across Hostel Victoria. And toured the place, Number 1 this place is not a hostel, and offers very little to the the backpacker there are different services available in an area within 1 to 3 km away. No really kitchen to make things and so fourth. When mentioned I think the son of the owner mentioned that they were better than any hostal because hostels were dirty, promiscuous and the only people that liked them were looking for drugs. I toured the place with a friend whom was back packing from Canada with his family. He was totally insulted with the attitudes and immediately left. The fellow showing us , had a very indifferent attitude. I strongly recommended people who are looking for great hostels to stay in panama to avoid this place, Volcan has other more friendly places. at no time have I stayed there and have no vested interest in the business. My only purpose is to gather information for a book to serve my fellow Canadians and Americans on visiting Panama. For truly great experience, visit The Lost and Found Hostel one of the best in all of Central and South America on the way to Bocas Del Toro, also David a few miles from Volcan has some top notch hostels. My experiance comes from...
Read moreWhen I read the reviews for this hostel, I was excited to experience what others had experienced. Wow... I was very disappointed! To be fair, some of the nice points of this hostel is that it's clean, modern, with good WiFi. It's like staying in a cheap motel in the United States. Things that I found disappointing: |* It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to anything |* the "kitchen is a little shed out in the front yard with "bare minimum " utensils and can only be used by one guest at a time. Definitely don't plan to cook anything that requires more than a skillet and one pan. |* the hostel is owned by an older woman who doesn't seem to like having guests |* you must be home before 10:30p||Stay here if you enjoy total silence at night and don't mind being away from other people...
Read moreVery clean rooms with many amenities and great, great customer service. Family owned. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The room and bathroom were spacious enough for people who are mobility challenged. Good lighting. Within a few blocks of several restaurants and supermarkets. The building that houses the "corregiduria," also within walking distance, has a computer room for public use if needed. The hostel offers free wifi which in our experience provided reliable, quick downloading and uploading of large picture files. The parking area is enclosed by an electric gate. The room had a huge flat screen television, if that interests you. We also either used or saw other clients use all the amenities Rodolfo T and Fraterno S mention. Our group consisted of 3 adults, 2...
