Burricos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Nueva California

We had a wonderful evening at Burricos where we were made to feel very welcome the minute we walked in the door.

The food was fab - I had the chiles rellenos and my husband had the chips with salsa followed by chicken and shrimp fajitas and all were outstanding. We finished up with the house flan which was to die for.

The service from Aleida was top notch and we even met her wonderful daughter with whom we had a lovely conversation.

The owner Jaime was very friendly and we enjoyed meeting with him too and sharing stories.

Meeting wonderful people and eating great food is a big part of our travel experiences and this will be one we will certainly remember. We will treasure the memory of a lovely evening long after we leave the the beautiful town of Volcan behind.

Mexican husband Jaime and Volcaneña wife Doña Mirtha serve the best Mexican food available in Chiriquí. Traditional dishes include chiles rellenos, chilaquiles, the usual quesadillas, burritos and tacos, plus fresh salads served in a fried-tortilla bowl, and at lunchtime the Panamanian comida corriente with a selection of pollo, carne de res, pescado, puerco also available at reasonable prices, drawing the commercial crowd. Very informal and friendly at lunchtime; subdued lighting at dinner time make for a little more intimate feel. Weekends there are many groups, either retirees from the area, visitors, church groups and family celebrations. Beer, wine, cocktails...

We stopped in here while visiting Panama and taking a day trip from Boquete. We are from the Southwest USA and this was our first good Mexican Food experience in Panama.

We had a Carne Chimichanga and the Enchilada plate with the red sauce (Rojo). Everything was made to order and so fresh and flavorful. The prices are more in line with America, and a bit higher than you might expect to pay in Panama. However, you do get quite a bit of food for that money. We left stuffed.
