The best there is!||Hotel Amalfi, where we stayed for more than a week in January 2013, is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. ||Our room (no. 9) was spacious yet cosy. There is a fridge, wi-fi and air-conditioning, a roomy bathroom with large shower: we loved the big soft and fluffy towels (most unusual!) and everything was scrupulously clean. We had a completely secluded patio outside our room. The hotel must be very well-insulated as we never ever heard a thing once inside the room, so it was peaceful and quiet. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the main square.||The staff here are so friendly that we felt like they were family. The manager Gilberto is knowledgeable and communicative and with a keen sense of humour (he is also a computer expert so managed to deal with problems we had with our lap-top); receptionists Ricardo and Hannibal were both helpful and charming, and house-keeper Innocencia was motherly and caring. ||Upon leaving, we asked for a late check-out. No problem at all! We were allowed to keep our room until we needed to depart at 2pm. Other hotels, please take note! and allow guests late check-outs upon request: because unless the place is full and/or cleaning staff are only hired at certain times in the morning (not usually the case in our experience) it should not make any difference to you.....but you would gain a lot of credit and good feeling (as well as good reviews!) for being flexible. Thank you, Amalfi, for allowing us to stay on, it made a big difference to our day.. ||||This is a really great hotel,...

Location: quiet and within walking distance of several attractions, however the area appears somewhat run down and one has to walk several blocks to find a restaurant or grocery store.|The room was spacious and clean, although quite dated and somewhat gloomy. A/C worked well. Comfortable bed and pillows. No safe. Well located power outlets.|Bathroom with very dated fixtures. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water.|Average wifi.|Reasonable breakfast (no buffet).|Price is quoted in USD on Booking.com without mention of charging in the local currency. However, cards are charged in the local currency, resulting in a higher price (even without foreign transaction fees). The difference is small, but still it shouldn't happen.|Overall good for the price paid, but the price quoted (in whatever currency) is the price that...
