I don’t usually leave reviews, especially not negative ones, but I feel I need to warn future guests - just as I wish someone had warned me.

The hostel seemed great at first: social and welcoming. But then I discovered all my money was stolen from my locked backpack. After talking to other guests, I learned this wasn’t an isolated case, several people had large sums of cash stolen days before, even though their things were in lockers with padlocks.

Turns out that two people believed to be frauds had stayed there at different times and are suspected of stealing from multiple guests. One of them, who stayed in my room, was checked in without showing valid ID - a major security failure that makes the hostel responsible for what happened.

Management was defensive and dismissive about my situation, didn’t investigate, didn’t question staff, and never filed a police report, despite several thefts happening on their premises. They only started to follow up after I pushed repeatedly for action, and even then I felt completely unsupported and quite frankly unsafe.

I’m not writing this to accuse anyone directly, but based on what I experienced and what others shared, this has been a recurring issue in this hostel in the past weeks. The hostel failed to ensure basic guest safety and responded far too late while I was staying there.

Really not a good experience. I got back after a night out and the doors which require you to be buzzed in by someone were not answered. I started to panic a bit because it’s a dodgy area and felt unsafe. No one answered for 10 minutes or so and I had to climb in over a 2 metre fence.||The main issue was when I explained this to the staff the next day. They told me I was waiting 2 minutes which was not true, they then didn’t say sorry. They were mean and hostile towards me. They made me feel uncomfortable for complaining and both changed and got really mean towards me. I decided to leave and go somewhere else as I had a flight the next day at 6am and didn’t want to miss it if the door was not answered.||They said they would not refund me for my last night and I said that’s their decision but not good customer service. ||It feels like a weird environment, I sat down on a table the first day and the owner told me I can’t sit there as she is having all her friends over this evening. It was hours before they arrived, it was just to be mean she said this. ||It’s in a dodgy area, which is about 20 minutes walk to the centre and longer to the attractions.||There were not many people there and there was no vibe / social element. Loved this hostel so much. They were welcoming and friendly. I felt very safe on the property and the rooms were nice. Plenty of showers and bathrooms for guests and the kitchen was clean. Wifi was very fast and accessible everywhere in the hostel. Space was set up to easily meet other guests without it being a party spot. Bar within hostel is not overpriced and great selection. You can even rent a tereré or mate setup!

Things to note: air-conditioning is used very infrequently, if ever in shared rooms. Room temp was still very comfortable (even chilly one night) but if you think you need AC, book a private room. breakfast is not always included, but it is not expensive if you'd like to buy breakfast for yourself. the area the hostel is located is not very safe at night but I personally had no problems and avoided walking on the streets in the evenings.
