How do I start. It’s been a quite a while since I left La casa de chamo since the start of October but I still felt the warmness of home, sincerity and family likeness of the place.
Quite a bit of things happened in Arequipa for me and my partner - I had an allergic reaction to seafood and she had her phone stolen while we were in the bus respectively. The hosts - Chamo and Anita went above and beyond to help us in our respective situations. And because of those situations we stayed longer than expected but also loved ever single day with Case de Chamo because it really felt like home being there. It was a bittersweet feeling when we finally were able to make a move to our next destination.
About the booking and place - the accommodation is cosy and there are various rooms that you can choose - rooms with shared bathroom or rooms with private bathrooms. Wifi is great, terrace is the second floor where you can cook your meals or simple relax on the sofas or even do workouts. The hosts clean the common areas everyday. The place is 20 mins walk to Plaza de Armas or 10 mins by public bus which cos 1 sol.
We have many wonderful breakfast and dinners (sometimes lunches) with the hosts that we will always remember these moments. For me, my stay in Casa de Chamo would be the most memorable time in Arequipa.
Chamo and Anita - thank you for everything. I hope to see you guys again soon! Will...
Read moreJamie and his lovely wife Anita are amazing and their place is cozy, colourful and arty in every corner.
The amazing vibes of this place attract very interesting people and we were glad to make friends with some of their guests too.
I read comments about dogs barking all night long , but I only heard them once really.
It is a little commute to the city: there is a bus stop a couple of block away that for 1 sol takes you downtown - takes around 15 minutes - only thing, sometimes is super full, so Mind your pockets. Otherwise you can take a cab.
One more thing to consider, if you book a room with shared bathroom, you have to get outside of the room to get to the bathroom since the common area is a beautiful open air terrace. (To keep in mind especially for those who go to the bathroom at night - it might be a couple of steps in the cold)
What I will remember of this stay, is the feel of a real airbnb experience: hosts are beyond amazing....
Read moreWhere to even start ? This place was amazing. When took a night bus prior to arrival and Chamo kindly allowed us to checkin super early, the room we stayed downstairs was spacious, very clean and warm at the cold nights. Private bathroom, shared kitchen and common area upstairs. There was plenty of space to sit and relax, amazing views of the volcano. The internet is good speed 25mbs+ upstairs, unfortunately doesn't reach downstairs rooms but not an issue at all. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. The common area had sofas, tables and chairs to fit everyone. The atmosphere in here is just something else, Mr Chamo and Anita are one of the best hosts we had in Peru. We will miss you guys.
