We've been travelling for 10 months and this is the first time we have published a negative review. I can honestly say this is the worst we have been treated by anybody and therefore I really don't think this business deserves your support. There are plenty of other nice hostels around town, where people are nice, friendly and treat you with respect.||We stayed here one night before we did the Colca Canyon trek.||Firstly, upon arrival, the woman who owns the hostel tried to give us a cheaper room to the one we had already booked until we complained.||Don't be fooled by the fact the description says there is a kitchen with each room. She decides when you can use this, and it is also an additional cost depending on how she feels as not everyone gets charged. The morning we were leaving to do our Colca trip, we asked could we boil some eggs to take with us, they agreed. We bought our eggs and returned, she then said the gas was gone and said we couldn't use it. I would consider us both fluent Spanish speakers. When we tried to defend ourselves, she started laughing in our faces.||Most frustratingly, we reserved a room for the evening we returned from our Colca trip. When we returned to the hostel exhausted and asked could we get our keys, she started laughing in our faces, and told us that there was no...
Read moreI don't leave many negative reviews but got really fed up with the woman in charge.
I had a room at 50 with breakfast included, but in the morning she kept insisting it was wrong and I should pay 20 extra for breakfast. I refused as I had it clearly in writing. When I came back to pick up my backpack after the canyon, I asked if I could take a shower before heading back to Arequipa, the male owner said ok, I thanked and said I'd leave it immaculate (I even wiped the floor with my towel), and when I came down the woman asked for 10 soles and reminded me I didn't pay for breakfast the day before. I don't care about the 10 soles but they had not mentioned it before and it just seemed like "revenge".
Apart from that, room was good, shower was hot in the morning but cold the night before. WiFi was ok except in morning so I had to pay cash, couldn't pay by...
Read moreWe had reserved 2 room via bookings but when we arrived around 5:30pm they had overbooked the hotel and only had one room left. They first argued that we did not have aw reservation but once we showed them the email and confirmation number they said a guest was sick and asked to stay. They told us we could use the dormitory which is a garage (see picture) repurposed with 5 beds. But then they asked for more money because 2 people on the dormitory is more expensive than a room. When we argued, they asked for a higher exchange rate. This went on and on, a nightmare. They did not want to give extra toilet paper, or extra jam during breakfast. We have been 3.5 weeks in Peru and this is the first time it happens. ||Bottom line, if you don't want to find yourself without a room even though you booked it, stay away from...
