The rooms here were of a very high standard, newly built and decorated. What let this place down was the owner who was incredibly rude and difficult, and made us feel awkward to be there.
It’s a shame because the room was lovely, comfy beds, lots of lights and sockets, nice bathroom with hot shower. By Peru standards it was very high. The location is good, as was the views across the mountains.
We arrived with a reservation, and with prior notice we were arriving on motorbikes. When we arrived we could see the owner sat watching sports on tv, he surely heard us arrive on the bikes but didn’t get up to welcome us. When we went into the main lobby he seemed annoyed to have to serve us and miss his game, he didn’t turn the TV down and when we tried to ask him where we could park the bikes he kept walking off. eventually he showed us we could park our bikes inside the hostel courtyard, but he wanted us to take all of our luggage off which we didn’t feel was necessary. He was insistent and got annoyed when we said we didn’t want or need to. Eventually we were allowed to put the bikes inside, right in the corner or the garden, but he continued to be off-hand and rude to us. We wish we had just left.
The other issue we had was breakfast - as others have said on reviews, they host tour groups for breakfast who get a far superior experience. We were given scrambled eggs, ham and cheese, no bread or fruit. A poor breakfast for the price paid for the room.
In summary we would not...
Read moreAn excellent location for anyone wishing to visit the Colca Canyon and surrounding area. The place is perfect as a base for short or few-day expeditions. The place was clean, quiet and adjacent to cultivated fields with magnificent views. The garden is large and has several armchairs and hammocks for relaxing after a long day walk. The hosts, Alejandra and Edwin, welcomed us like good old friends and the entire staff was ready to lend a hand with any questions. They were very helpful in giving us recommendations on how to enjoy our stay. The hosts even organized a visit to the Yanke hot springs for us and were concerned about my children's well-being. The food was also excellent. We enjoyed the hearty breakfast as well as the extra meals we ordered. I am very grateful to the hosts who are willing to go the extra mile to provide an unforgettable experience for anyone visiting the...
Read moreStayed here for two nights during my visit to Colca. A really nice hotel with everything you need, including a garden with hammocks and mountain view (and colibris flying around). The place is modern and quite well insulated, so its not freeezing at night but I still opted for electric heater, which kept the temp in my room really pleasant. Really hot water in the shower, which I appreciated a lot given the temperatures there :)
There is free tea available all day. Breakfast was good. Also ate dinner twice, had trout and a soup, all good. Was more expensive than what you would find in the village but I guess that's what you pay for the convenience.
I didn't do any treks but heard the owner explaining in great detail the routes and possible options to other travellers which was very nice of him.
All in all a very...
