La Xalca Hotel — Hotel in Chachapoyas

Delightful colonial style hotel with open courtyard with nice flowers and balconies all round. Staff very friendly and helpful, but do not speak English - however with the help of a phrase book we managed well. Breakfast is the usual for Peru, and they will cook fried eggs for you. However, after a day touring I do not want to go out in the evenings and then food is a problem. They have a little menu [translated into English] and offer 3 local dishes, sandwiches or they will order in a pizza! I missed good food here as I could not ask the staff where to go to find a good restaurant. I am sure there are good places in Chacapoyas but my experience was limited in that respect. There is coffee and tea available all day, free, in the lounge area. ||||The hotel is not far from the central plaza but if you find walking difficult [as I do] then try to find somewhere in the centre nearer eating places.||||Wifi is OK but there is no safe in the room. There is noise from firecrackers, roosters and dogs so take ear plugs [but that is a good idea whereever you...

Pretty place, beautiful rooms, and it's like 3 blocks down the Plaza, so it's near. I would like to metion the great service we experienced. First of all, breakfast is served at 6 a.m., but we had to leave the hotel by 4:30 a.m. so we were about to miss the breakfast we paid before, but the hotel was really nice to pack the breakfast for us before we left. Also, we had some trouble with our debit card and we needed a credit card. The manager was really kind to offer his credit card, but in the end, we didn't use it because our problem was solved.

Great place and a great...

The room offers minimal accommodations. The bedding was comfortable. The bathroom was small and clean, but lacking basic items. The room carpeting was not adequate: thin like paper and tired-looking. The front desk attendant was great! The gentleman spoke English and he was very helpful with suggestions and making arrangements. Bottom line: I do not recommend the hotel. Breakfast was OK. The hotel location was good. Do not get swayed by the photo on the hotel website of a nice-looking courtyard (I did) because the rest of the hotel...
