Our family of 4 booked a six night stay for a family getaway in late January.
From our initial contact with Punta del Norte Bungalows, the trip was a wonderful experience. Andrea answered many questions before our arrival and also booked a taxi for us to travel from the Talara airport to the property. We arrived earlier than we initially planned and after a few minutes, Diego and the team had our room ready to go. It was so nice that we were able to get the kids to the beach and kick off our vacation a bit earlier than planned. The welcome drinks (for kids and adults) were a lovely surprise!
The grounds are filled with brick pathways, as well as beautiful lighting and vegetation. There were several beach loungers available and we almost always had the area to ourselves. We stayed in one of the three bungalows closest to the sea. The beds were comfortable, the room spacious, the patio was perfect for reading and playing games with the kids, and our hammock was used often. The pool area was lovely and the seating plentiful. We chose to enjoy a couple of lunches poolside as well as a couple of night swims (pool open until 10pm).
The game area included ping pong, magnetic darts, and we even introduced foosball to our kids. during the course of the week (they loved it). Be sure to bring your refillable water bottle as they have two water coolers where you can refill. We really appreciated this amenity!
One of the best features of this property is the restaurant. The food was excellent and we had not one bad meal. The pizzas, seafood in all varieties including ceviche and chicharron de pescado made with the fish we caught on our excursion one day. Breakfast had a nice rotation and we enjoyed the tamales, chicharron, and fruit/yogurt parfaits especially. The drinks crafted by Darwin were delicious and our favorites were the pina colada and the maracuya mojito. Rut, Diego, Darwin, Chef Carlos and the rest of the team did a stellar job of making our stay pretty near perfect. The service was top notch and in a time where good service seems hard to find, we really appreciate the staff going through extra mile!
Our family really wanted to focus on using our week to unplug and relax and Punta del Norte Bungalows allowed us to do just that. We brought books, card games and coloring supplies to use while lounging on the beach or poolside. We did pack beach toys for the kids but they had many on hand so there was no need! A masseuse was on site one afternoon giving massages on the second floor of the overlook. Super affordable, great massage and listening to the ocean waves was perfect. Bonfire on the beach set up one night which was a nice end to another great day at PDN.
We did opt to try kayaking, as well as the fishing/tortuga swimming set up through PDN. All four of us enjoyed these outings! The kids enjoyed walking along the beach searching for shells throughout the week and we enjoyed taking in the sunset every evening.
Also, something of note. On our last morning we inquired about the awesome hammocks to see where we might buy one before flying home. Diego located a few new hammocks for us to choose from and we bought one on the spot.
While Punta del Norte Bungalows are a bit out of the way from the main stretch, that aspect contributed to the perfection of our stay. It was so quiet and with only 10 bungalows, we often felt that we had the place to ourselves. Coming from Lima, the quiet location coupled with personal service really sets them apart and made for a memorable vacation. For a family that’s always on the go, it was truly the perfect week. Full of the quality time and down time we desperately needed.
Bottom line: We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others as well. Thank you so much for the...
Read moreWords cannot explain this place. Our bungalow was huge. The property is amazing and large. We felt like we were the only ones there. The bed was the best we had on our whole trip. The place was so tranquil. The owner, Julio, picked us up from Mancora and brought us to the bungalows. He was very helpful to find us everything we needed. We took the moto taxi to town and went to the market to get supplies for lunch for the week. The breakfast was top notch. The smoothie was super delicious. The lady staff made an amazing breakfast and did such a wonderful job cleaning. The dogs, especially Lola, were so friendly and cute. There is no internet connection at all. It was nice to disconnect from everything. There is only one restaurant to go to when you are there. It is called marinus. It is a fine minute walk down the beach and worth it. Carlos and his staff make amazing food and are some of the kindest people around. I would highly...
