Embajada Wanka — Hotel in El Tambo

I stayed in January 2020. I like the style of the hotel and the style of the bedrooms. Everything is very clean and white. The wide-open windows with beautiful curtains create a comfortable atmosphere. The bedding was comfortable and I slept very well despite the traffic noises outside which are to be expected. I like that the prices were available to see on the wall at the reception and that my genius discount was applied. I liked that I could pay the property by credit card without any extra fees. The staff working at reception was very welcoming and brought me toilet paper and a fresh towel very quickly just after check-in. The shower had hot water and was very comfortable. I watched some TV and I was surprised to see a high number of channels. I liked the furniture in the bedroom and the local decorations throughout the hotel. I like the location of the hotel for my needs. Many of the previous guests complained about the location but it's actually a good location depending on your needs. There are a few restaurants and banks nearby, and the hotel is halfway between both bus terminals.

Disliked · I did not like the front door of the hotel. It's uncomfortable to open the two small doors. The front door needs to be changed. I hurt my hand trying to open and close the doors twice. The bathroom ceiling needs to be fixed and maintained. The tiles could be washed with a power washer in the bathroom every month to help maintain the clean white look of the bathroom. Around the middle of the night, the WiFI at the property stopped working. As soon as another guest enters the property that was not registered at check-in there is an additional charge. This was a small annoyance as there is no 15-minute rule and there is no comfortable place for friends to wait in the lobby. Keep that in mind if you will be having friends visit you...

It was a bit difficult for the taxi driver to find the place because there is no sign or banner visible, only a small label that says "hostal" above the doorbell, plus there is a similar address in another part of town, this place is in El Tambo. The facility appears to be new and still in construction and the rooms were quite nice and modern. The single room I got did not have a window, but there is no view anyway. The immediate surroundings are mostly automobile repair/industrial related, altho there is a retail business area and Mercado on Santa Isabel a few blocks away. Meals are not available and there does not appear to be any restaurants nearby, altho the main avenue is a few meters to the corner. The staff member spoke English fairly well and was knowledgeable about the city and its attractions, it seems he lives there and is present all the time. There was construction noise during the day until around 5PM. The room was very modern and up to date with a comfortable bed and flat screen TV, free wifi was available also. It is walking distance to the city center, for the adventurous, it may be a cheap taxi ride there and to the bus station on Ferrocarril. There was a minor problem with housekeeping and curiously the trash was not removed. More attention should be taken to clean the shower with its fancy white and silver tile work. We stayed 2 nights. The double room was clean and have good space.||The Wi-Fi didn't work in a half of the room, so we have to stay near the door to be able to use it.||When we asked quation to the weekend receptionist, we felt that we disturbed him, not really helpful.||They offer reception 24h, but it was closed early in the morning (around 6am) and the front door was locked.
