It would be impossible for me to start this review over the “Junco y Capulí” hostal without mentioning in the first place Mr. Victor Calderon, its friendly owner, who has managed to create in a more than quaint space a unique human experience always followed by his right hand smiling woman Giovanna. Peru lover and well-knowledge of its millennial cultures traditions and costums he easily ilustrates us about them in between smiles while cooking local delicious plates achieving to offer magic moments to travellers that become inevitably family members when choosing this central spot of Huancayo city nestled in a fertile valley by the riverbanks of Mantaro river at 3200 mts hight central andes. They offered to bring me a teapot of hot water and coca leaves to ease my “mal de estomago.” They made a nice brkfst. including cooked eggs as part of the room fee. The mattress was firm, the shower was hot. The location was 12 blocks from the center of Huancayo. It has a ton of charm, the water is hot and consistent, wifi works very well, and the location is great--central but quiet. Ten minute walk to the plaza de armas, huge new shopping mall, and bus terminal. And maybe the best part is the fantastic breakfast, especially the bread. In short, I can't imagine coming to Huancayo and not staying in this relaxing, clean,...
