Just got back from a 2 day, 1 night tour. The gentleman in the office was quite pushy, and this should have been a warning sign, but the promises of what we would do were amazing. When we arrived, the room was clean, in good condition and the only thing it lacked was a fan. Electricity was only on from 6pm to 9pm each day but this is to be expected in the jungle. Good from the buffet was reasonably good with tea, coffee and water also available. The problem was with the actual tour - we went for the nature but saw very little, on the nighttime excursion we found a small frog and the tour guide put it in his hands and shook it hard to try and stun it for a photo, he was then going to destroy a tarantula hole so we could get a photo but we stopped him. The second day we went to the monkey rescue centre which was very nice, and they are free to roam, we then went to what is basically a zoo, with poor animals caged in small cages (a sloth, anaconda, tortoises, macaus and other animals), wanting you to pay for a photo with them. We then had to sit through a sales pitch for natural medicine, which we left halfway through. We were promised fishing for pirahanas but never got to see one. Even in the nighttime walk we passed a large area of the forest they had cut down and burned in order to grow crops, not really what we wanted to see. We were also asked to lie to other people on the tour because they had been scammed by the company and had found out. Would not...
Read moreI had fantastic 4 days at the lodge. With our super friendly and accommodating guide Caseveral we made several where excursion into the jungle and the river he showed us the charm, beauty and the dangers of the Amazon. We went Piraña fishing, visited native tribes, discovered various plants and animals (frogs, tarantulas, centipedes, pink dolphins) in wildlife and at the animal rescue center (monkeys, anacondas, sloths) and even swam in the Amazon river. Everyday three freshly prepared meals were provided from the local cuisine, which were delicious. The rooms were clean and tidy as much as you can expect from a lodge in the middle of the jungle and they were cleaned daily. All in all I had a great adventure and learned a lot about the Amazon rain forest and the people living...
