I made my reservation several months in advance, secured it with a c/c and also confirmed. At 10:00 PM the day prior to my arrival I received an email from the hotel syaing they had to cancel my room because I had not updated my c/c details. What!!!!! I contacted Booking.com who confirmed no message had been sent to me by the hotel asking for me to update my c/c details. Booking.com then called the hotel and I was told my reservation was still active and that the hotel had confirmed everything. The next day I travelled for 13 hrs to get to the hotel and upon my arrival I was told I had to go to their sister hotel. Palmetto Business Hotel Perla down the street. I remembered when looking for hotels in the area that the sister hotel was not as good and had terrible reviews. I asked why I had to go there and they told me they had decided to upgrade me to a deluxe room. Ha! Whatever. There was nothing deluxe about that hotel what so ever. They needed my room for a large group who booked after I made the reservation. A staff member took me to the other hotel in a taxi and as soon as I saw it I knew it was a down grade. An old run down hotel. I was charged the same as my original reservation at this hotel but later learned the new room I was given was a down grade and cheaper. When I asked for the difference to be returned they told me that was not possible! Instead I was allowed a late check out. There was no WI-FI in the rooms in the sister hotel. I had to test 3 different rooms and later learned there was no WI-FI in the rooms peiod. The sister hotel was a total nightmare and I asked to go back to this hotel but it turned out they were sold out. They had taken a big group reservation and basically overbooked and that is why I had to go and stay at the sister hotel which was a total dump. Old, super noisy (music was played until 4:00 AM and dogs were barking all night). After complaining the next day I was allowed back at this hotel because a room beacame available. Never have I run into a situation like this before. When I returned I was told the reason they had to move me was because the toilet broke just before my arrival. Please! They must have thought I was stupid. They basically overbooked and I had to go and stay at the sister hotel which was horrible and why I never booked it to begin with which I also explained to them. Very basic breakfast, slamming doors, traffic from the main road 24/7, a smell of sewer from the bathroom, no international TV channels. Very rough area. I would never stay here again or recommend. They sold my room to somebody else despite I made the reservation 6 months in advance. Very...
