This hotel is in Vichayito on an unpaved road and is set on a hill which overlooks the ocean. Unfortunately there is construction going on which makes it a little noisy and will definitely affect the view from Rooms 1 and 2 when finished. It's a bit of a steep climb from the road but not too difficult for those in good health. Our room was not the best in the hotel, being close to the road (and thus the construction) as well as to the restaurant and main desk, and our terrace was easily accessible and thus potentially vulnerable. Locking the entrance should be enough to keep thieves away. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and all have a view of the sea with a nice terrace. There is excellent pressure in the shower and the beds big and conducive to sleep. We would have liked hand towels and better pillows, however. There is a pool, which is a little small and a bit slippery in the shallow end. Those who can't swim very well should avoid the main pool, which is 1.8 meters deep. But it is very relaxing to sit at the pool after a swim and soak up the sun in mid-afternoon. The personnel (many of whom are Venezuelans) were very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is a little light--strictly continental, but you can order more if you wish (for a price). The meals were very good, with emphasis on seafood, as expected. However, they don't seem to have enough place mats to go around--they can't be that expensive! There is a sushi bar across the road on the way to the beach, with happy hour in the evenings. Prices of drinks and food are quite reasonable. The beach area has vast areas for walking, and the hotel is within walking distance of both Mancora (some 7 kms north) and Organos, about 5 kms. south. The water was not warm, just somewhat cool--invigorating, in other words. We were with friends, and enjoyed our four days here immensely. We would definitely return to this hotel. But for those who want to be closer to Mancora, you might want to try one of the hotels further north--more...
