We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel Puerto Antiguo in October 2017.||Communication by email was prompt and thorough (which was not the case with any of the other hotels in Los Organos that we contacted) and made the booking very quick and straightforward.||We were immediately delighted when we arrived as the property is beautiful and has the best location right on the beach.||Our first floor room was big and very nicely decorated, although it really lacked some furniture to, for example, hang your clothes on. The bed was comfy and the sheets were super clean and smelled heavenly. The bathroom was quite small but clean and functional. At the time of our stay there was no hot water, but there were installing it while we were there, which is a very necessary and most-welcomed improvement. There was a ceiling fan in our room, which worked great and would be most welcome during the hot summer months. We had a wonderful ocean view (as requested) from our room :)||The hotel grounds have been designed with great taste, the place is really beautiful. The pool is clean and nice. The restaurant serves excellent food, although maybe a bit pricy (but no more than other restaurants in Los Organos). The breakfast is a bit poor (just bread, jam, butter and a fresh glass of juice + tea or coffee), it would not cost much for them to include some fruits and would vary the dull breakfast somewhat.||The staff was super friendly and helpful, the hotel feels really safe. The owner's dogs are very quiet and never bark or bother anyone.||The location is unbeatable, right on the beach. It is an easy 10 mins walk along the beach to the jetty and restaurants. We appreciated not having to walk in the dull streets of town to get to and from the hotel.||I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but would really appreciate if they could include some furniture or/and shelves in the room...
Read morePROS: Beautiful hotel right next to the beach. There isn't a lot of wildlife but plenty of space to lay out in the sand or get in the water.
Food was delicious, the menu is provided at the bar and the food will take a while because it's homemade and made to order. The prices are pretty great when you factor the conversion rate. 17 dollars fed 3 people and got us tipsy.
Rooms are clean with hot water and television. The beds are full sized, so if you have a kid, upgrade.
Staff does not speak much English but they understand very well, which is zero problem if you're fluent in Spanish.
CONS: Most travel websites will advertise that all rooms have air conditioning, this is only true for cabins. Having met the staff and owner I'm almost positive they weren't aware of the slip up.
There are no restaurants or markets near the hotel. The nearest are about 1 mile away. USE THE MOTOTAXIS THEY RECOMMEND. If they aren't on the list they will rip you off, they charged my brother in law (native Peruano)12 Sol from the nearest restaurant to the hotel, the Hotel affiliated taxis will charge you 3 Sol for anywhere in Los Organos.
BONUS If you're looking for wildlife go to Ñuro (15 minutes south) and follow the beach South from the Seaturtles. The beaches here are beautiful and empty in Mid-February (which is summer if you're from the north). If you walk for about 3 miles you'll find dozens of species of birds actively hunting for fish right off shore, thousands of crabs, lizards sunning on rocks and even a natural sea cave that you can check out during low tide.
All of the below photos are from the beaches...
