A very nice hotel to spend a family vacation. Plenty of areas to walk around and enjoy a quiet and natural setting. During my stay, the hotel was around 30% - 50% occupancy, which is comfortable enough during the pandemic era. Rooms decently maintained in general, though we had some issues in our room the first day that were quickly fixed. Wi-fi internet can be very slow in some open areas and rooms. We booked 2 rooms for a group of 5: 1 triple superior and 1 suite with private pool (aprox 3 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 1.4 meters deep)... the suite allowed us to spend time in family isolated from the rest of the hotel. Room service works efficiently, the food is very good and restaurant prices are average for a 3-star hotel, no need to look for food elsewhere. Although their policy forbids bringing food or beverages from outside the hotel, I could bring my own wine, beers and spirits without problems (they have a mini fridge in the rooms to keep things cold). I am a golfer and brought my set of wedges and some practice balls that I could use in a grass area that used to be a mini golf course at some point in the past, best time early in the morning when most people is having breakfast or at the pools. Be aware that drinks in the bar are way too low on alcohol, think twice before ordering a cocktail! The sandboard activity in the dune is very fun! All the staff is very polite and helpful, they don't expect a tip but they will be very grateful if you tip for a good service experience. Hotel location is centric, 10 minute drive to the center of the city, 20 minute drive to Huacachina oasis, pisco distilleries (Caravedo worth visting) and wineries (Tacama and Queirolo...
Read moreNice layout, clean and cozy grounds. The staff makes feel welcomed and makes and effort to ensure your stay is comfortable. There are quite a few day activities to keep entertained such as sand boarding, contests etc. Free parking and complimentary WiFi add on to the sleep of offered amenities. The rooms are quite spacious in a two story bungalow setup. You will find most needed comforts such as TV, AC, hair dryer, minifridge well stocked with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, as well as snacks. However they lack proper lighting making them quite dingy. Your stay can include all meals if you so choose (breakfast, lunch & dinner) all buffet. Usually breakfast and lunch are fine in variety and flavor however, dinner is a gamble at best it will be OK going down to fair. During dinner they have a live show, a different one every night. The show cast tried their best but the sound system is to loud and not clear, making the while experience awful. There's is no half point rating for if there was this place will be a solid 3.5 and no more than that. For the cost of this place they should easily fall on the 4.5 to 5 rating but the few already mentioned deficiencies make it's cost benefit factor not so good...
Read moreI stayed in Las Dunas 3 times, the first 2 times were in 2018 and 2020 and those were great experiences. However, my latest stay was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Our group stayed in rooms 224 and 225.
Upon check-in, one of the rooms had toenail clippings on the floor. Upon telling the front desk the response was “We’ll send someone to take a look”. No apology The AC in room 225 was rattling and the noise was too much that it couldn't be used and had to opt to keep the windows open which isnt ideal when flys/insects can get in At lunch one of our party ordered the cheese and meat platter at the bar, what we got was a platter of day-old meat and cheese, we sent it back During the same lunch one of the staff members was mopping the floor under our table and banging off our chairs, leaving a disinfectant smell… while we were eating The audio for the television box (not the tv itself) in 224 was distorted, unusable The hotel itself was quite dirty on the outside walls, likely due to the rain/dust, but it wouldn't have required much effort to clean.
That said, some of the staff were fantastic and very helpful. I dont know whats happened to Las Dunas but I couldn’t...
