We contacted the hotel a day before and requested to have a cab waiting for us at the airport. The taxi service was 15 soles, about $4.5 Dollars. Our room was the "Mini Apartment straight and to the right" in the first floor. We found a nice kichenette with a small refrigerator, a micowave and a sink. Two fans to cool off the place. The only down side was the TV that at first was not working, but the hotel staff helped us to manage the issue and our stay was great. Delicious breakfast included!|Half block to the left, in the corner, there is a supermarket with great prices for soft drinks and other items.|Three blocks to the right from the hotel and across the street, you will find the "Mercado Modelo" with great variety of fruit and other usual findings from the area. |Three blocks to the right of the hotel without crossing the street and half block to the right you will find "Mario's Pollerìa" with great prices and excellent flavor. Please be nice with tips to the servers. A simple one sol can really make their day more pleasent.|We did not do any tours, but went on our own to the "Puerto" (Port). Also known as Capitanìa de Puerto. We got a ride for 60 soles for us (2 people). However, they normally charge 11 soles per person and botes can accomodate up to 14 people. We went through the "Madre de Dios River" and a bit of "Tambopata River."|On a second day, we did it again. Lucio was our guide this time and took us to "Quebrada Herrera" on Tambopata River. I strongly recommend to ask for Lucio. He has amazing stories and knows very well how to get...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night after our Wasai expeditions tour and we had a wonderful experience here. The staff did not speak much English but they were VERY helpful in helping us hail taxis and not get ripped off by drivers trying to charge tourists too much. They helped us with transportation to dinner and to the airport in the morning. We were trying to break some bills and they did not have the change, however the manager went next door to get us the right bills and give us our change. There was a very hospitable staff and the room was simple and cozy. We had a great sleep here with A/C and a nice shower. The staff was incredibly hospitable and I would strongly recommend this place, especially considering how...
Read moreBoton De Oro. What a name. Head up to the top floor immediately as you arrive and you will be greeted with a spectacular dizzying view of Puerto Maldonado in all its raw glory. The fantastically attentive landlord is truly a character to behold. Whether it's sharing a bottle of rum, or a cafetière of strong coffee, you'll find no finer gentleman in the city. Beds are tight, but comfortable, and the room fan only adds to the pleasure of the experience. All in all, I cannot recommend this hotel enough, a better bargain you will not find. 4/5, would definitely sleep again, even with Manbearpig next to...
