We arrived in Trujillo very late and walked for hours, looking at the sleaziest collection of hostels I've ever had the misfortune to see. This one turned up just as we were running out of energy. It's at the end of the Giron Pizzarro on a little square with trees and the like, and it's both quiet and clean. The rooms are in the 70-135 bracket from singles to triples and the decor is...well...if you want good decor, maybe you should go somewhere else as it's lots of geometrically deconstructed Peruvian scenery! The layout is a little odd with staircases spiralling off all over the place. There is a little bar that has beer in it (5 soles for Cusquena) that's very welcome if you can't be bothered to go out, although don't get Ricks Cafe Americain into your mind. The service is slow but efficient, and they are very amenable. It's not a typical hostel - it is a three star (the star system confuses me still) and it's not plastered with tour offers and the like. Choose a room overlooking the square, would be my advice. A good base for operations, and evidence that you don't have to be glued to the Plaza de Armas in order to...
Read moreThe hostal has a perfect location at the corber of a small square in the historic centre of the city. The room and its bathroom was very clean, the bed comfortable, the room had a good view onto the square. The staff was helpful and friendly. The only weakness was a bar opposite to the hostal that had a super loud concert with open windows which was attended by fewer people than the band itself. The bar didn't have a permit to play until half past one in the night, but they did not care about anything. If you cannot sleep well with loud music or if you want to go to bed early check the programme of the bar before taking room. Without the loud music it is a prefect choice for...
