I had a wonderful stay here in November 2014. It was everything I was hoping for - a remote stretch of white sand far away from the flocks of tourists in Panglao and the Chocolate Hills but just a 2 hour drive from the airport, which has plenty of connecting flights to Manila (and the island also has fast ferries to Cebu and Mindanao). It's a small place, so I got my own private diving lesson and PADI certification - how many places can you do that for under US$500?! The reef is largely unspoiled, and even if you have classmates taking the lesson, you will have a lot of the water to yourself.||||However, what made this place very special were the charming owners, a charming German-Filipino couple named Werner and Florence. They greeted me with such warm hospitality. Florence is also the local Barangay Captain (sort of like a village mayor in the Philippines) and a perfect busy-body and do-gooder. She supports a local school right up the street, which you can visit if you like. They have adopted a local boy who lost his mother, take on stray animals and hire all locally. Sometimes when the resort is quiet, local people can even use the beach for a nominal fee. So overall, you will have a nice local experience if you want that or hideaway on a secluded resort if that's what you're looking for. Both Werner and Florence have been all over the world, so they can relate to just about anything you have to talk about.||||In terms of the resort, it has a beautiful private beach, a nice new swimming pool and attractive landscaping. The rooms are cheerful and well appointed. The rooms (or at least the standard one...I didn't have a deluxe) don't have air con or hot water, but given the nice breeze at night and warm daytime temperatures, you probably won't miss it. Wi-Fi is available for free at the reception area. Anyway, if you've made it to this little corner of the Philippines, I don't think not having all of the creature comforts will be a major hang-up for...
Read moreWe are from California. First time in Bohol and went directly to Anda. We saw a signage FloWer Beach Resort. The road going there sounds rough- a challenge to those people wanted adventure, but the prize is a perfect paradise when you arrived FloWer Beach and Diving Resort. It was such a great place to stay-in. We planned at first to stay only one day, but as we enjoyed the place, imagine we stayed 1 week. We had a perfect stay there. Employees are so friendly to us. The receptionist and other staff are so accomodating. The manager Jes entertains our needs and explains everything on our concerns. He offered as "Lambanog" (a local drinks) in the first night and explained it came from Coconut Tree (fantastic- 40% alcohol). Foods are very good from local to international menus. The gardens are so naturally beautiful- perfect! Rooms are clean. And the most of everything---- the divesites are so amazing. Divings here are so excellent. Perfect divesites. Dive instructors are so entertaining too...We 100+1% recommend this resort to all travellers. Prices from food to accomodation are reasonable. Not that cheap but it is ok. The only problem I encountered in this resort which i do recommend to the management is the uniform to all the staff. It sounds confusing who are the workers because they do not have uniforms (difficult to identify either they are guests or workers).... some workers are tattoed and smoked (not good to travellers who are health conscious)... Anyway, over-all rating...
Read moreThe location of Flower Beach is great, right on the beach (not so nice, rocky and lots of sea urchins). If you want tranquility then this part of Bohol is for you.||I paid around 200 pesos to get from the bus terminal to the hotel each way, it takes about 2 hours in total, l used GT Express.||The resort is very tired, I had a basic room, still £40, no hot water, which when you are diving is not great!||The food is average and not cheap, but it is not easy to go elsewhere. I did venture down the beach with a torch one evening to Island View which was much better.||So, the diving, l was the only person in the resort for 3 days and so had a dive guide, Hubert and his wife to myself, which was great! They were lovely and good guides-diving here is recommended if you go to Anda! ||The diving is pretty good, many Turtles, good hard and soft corals, both sandy bottom and wall diving. It is not as good for muck diving as Dauin on Negros, which is fabulous.||The staff at the hotel were good and accommodating, together with the owners who were friendly.||So downsides, pool looked V murky, not sure if l would have wanted to go in, the beach loungers looked horrible and no cushions, beach towels- I doubt it....||Would l go back to Flower Beach? no, especially for the price, would l return...
