My family visited again last Dec. 13, 2024 the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental. As our habit, we stayed overnight at N Hotel in Cagayan de Oro. The last time we were here ( Feb 17 of this year), I already advised that the rooms are too dark and that they could have provisions like an extra lamp with a higher wattage. But when we switched on the lights this time, the rooms were still dark. Oh well. Since we have checked in at this hotel for the nth time, I have become very familiar with how things are run in this hotel. And I would like to believe that since I am an old, regular client, then at the very least, common courtesy would be accorded to me. We would always request for 2 rooms with a bath tub since my daughters enjoy hot baths. That night, we used the tubs and had a truly difficult time draining them. So we had to ask for assistance. And he came up ready armed with a plunger(?) and went about things matter of factly which made me conclude that this is NOT A NEW PROBLEM. The following morning, I went up to the front desk and updated a certain CARL of the problem encountered. Expecting at the very least an apologetic demeanor if not an apology, I was taken aback at the offhand attitude of this employee. He just said he'll inform housekeeping. What benefit could that be to us? Hello, we are already checking out. Since it was already around 6am and if we take our breakfast, we would be late for the 7am mass at the Shrine which is our main objective in going to Cagayan, I asked if we could have our breakfast packed as our usual habit. Not that we get a heavy breakfast. We are usually just given a sandwich , an egg and bottled water. But it was a bragging right that that the request is usually accommodated. BUT NOT with this CARL. We were told in no uncertain terms that " we had to take it at the cafe". So we opted to forego it. BUT it was not the refusal that was the crux of the matter. It was the MANNER in which it was delivered. He was curt , abrupt and abrasive. So after the mass when we checked out and saw that he was still at the front desk, I preferred to wait for other hotel personnel to be free to entertain me. We got lucky and had the pleasure of being assisted by Ms Jean, very similar to how we were received by Ms Bonnie at the front desk when we checked in. People like CARL should not be left at the front desk. It doesnt speak well of the hotel's attitude towards customers and customer service. Hope we will have a better...
Read moreThe Great: all the staff are very accommodating, helpful, and salute you by holding their hand over their heart. The staff really tries hard. Great common area environment. Great pool. Excellent maintenance. When I was running late, and breakfast buffet was closing, the restaurant called my room to see if I wanted to eat; They kept the buffet open for me. You don't find service like that everywhere.||The Good: safe in room; mattresses a little hard but okay; shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush, soap, extra TP roll included; phone in room and bathroom; hangers in closet; refrigerator in room; bottled water, coffee and tea supplies in room. Only one grounded outlet in the room, but was at the desk, so was able to plug grounded computer outlet in. I was not able to verify outlet near sink was GFCI protected. Bidet. Western style toilet; entire room and bathroom were clean.||I was happy that even though I hadn't used both bottles of water before house keeping came, they added 2 more bottles per day. As everywhere in PH, don't drink the tap water.||The Bad:|The room was a little sparse and lacked the high-quality aesthetic and art that the common areas have. There were no hand towels or washcloths. The TV did not work (I did not contact Front Desk to resolve the issue, but I am sure they would have). Shower handset needs updating.||Tip: Don't trust GPS to get you here -- Google Maps has road names wrong. Trust your driver. Call and book directly with the hotel to get discount rates-- not available on agoda, or CapitalOne Travel, etc.||I would have extended my stay, but they were fully book the next days. I will definitely be back!||Note to management: to become 4-star, improve mattresses, improve room asthetic, improve AC on 3rd floor common area, improve shower area and include wash cloth and...
Read moreWarning to all travellers who are planning to check-in in this hotel. I and my family stayed in this hotel for just over night last march 15 2024 we checked in somwhere 8pm or 9pm just to get some rest from a trip . In the morning, we availed the free breakfast buffet and so all my family went out the room to have breakfast. Guess what! After we went back to our room one of my niece sling bag that has some cash on it is missing, we checked all over the room but nowhere to find. It catch our attention that the side window (like a sliding glass window) room 103 is open, so we went to the reception and told them the story. Of course, after all the blah, blah, blah they can't give us any answer, they said they will investigate and still look on their cctv and will get back to us. We need to move on, as we also had a flight back to Canada the next day,so we leave them the number of my brother. For christ sake, it's over 3 weeks now and still no updates. My brother went to the hotel today (March 31,2024)and ask about the update and the manager said it is still under investigation. |Obviously the management are hiding something. ||Good thing we bring our important stuff like our passport and etc during breakfast time . No major lost other than the cash and the bag it self that is a gift for my niece. This is not acceptable and no other travellers or customers should experience the same. So this is heads up to everyone. DON'T GO...
