OYO 655 Mambaling Pension — Hotel in Cebu City

My room had no windows or visible vents, black mold everywhere, it smelled like an old wet and musty tomb. Mosquitoes in the bathroom, which makes no sense since there are no windows or vents. GIANT roaches everywhere, one of the big monsters, was pushing around a spider cocoon the size of my thumb under the bed. I asked the front desk for roach spray and they said they would tell housekeeping so I went to a store nearby. There were dead and dying roaches everywhere, too many to count. When I thought I had my pest control solved, a massive brown spider crawled down the wall to get at the wiggling and dying roaches. Little black ants everywhere. Clump of cobwebs hanging above the bed. No electric outlet near the bed. Bed sheet had holes. No Wifi in the room, Wifi only available at the front desk. Toilet water is shut off at the wall, when on, the hand held bidet has a leak, spraying backwards with a forceful jet. When flushed, the toilet water goes up and does not go down, anything that floats stays forever, simply said, the toilet does not make the brown stuff go down, it stays and smells up the place, no tissue paper was provided. The air conditioner never really gets cold, 27 degrees celsius is as low as it goes. No hot water. The TV on the wall doesn't work. Bathroom door is loose, hanging off its hinges. Bathroom light doesn't turn off, the switch does nothing. Electrical wiring hanging out of the wall. Bathroom had a very unpleasant smell to begin with, so bad I would avoid using it. Several times a day the room across the hall would receive a visitor knocking on the door followed by the sound of a moaning female. The knock would be different and the female's voice would be the same. NON STOP nuisance barking and I mean absolutely NON STOP, sometimes the super barkers were joined by another dog yelping in pain, seriously, every waking moment I was there, these dogs were going wide open nuts. The dogs are little yapper dogs kept in a cage besides the front desk. The front desk requires a 200 peso key deposit at check in, at check out you get “the key deposit is 100 peso sir” I watched the girl attach the 200 pesos to the paper at check in, at checkout there was only 100 pesos attached to the paper. It is cheap, yes. The matrimonial room is spacious enough for 2, it can even fit 3-4 persons and still feel comfortable, somewhat. Nyeah, 3 persons is enough. What I also like about is their order taking, it was already late night when we got hungry and decided to eat. We can’t go outside since we don’t feel secure. So we asked if we can order their breakfast meals (silog-silog). And they can cook it for us.

Sadly, those are the only things I like. Let me break down what I don’t like. ⏺room walls and ceiling are not clean, even the corridors and lobby, ⏺they have wifi but with average speed, ⏺they have shower but not hot and cold, ⏺there’s no hooks mounted anywhere in the bathroom to hang your towel or clothes, not even a bidet, ⏺said it is cable tv but it can only pick up 5 channels and the sound of their tv is horrible, ⏺there are multiple outlets but only one is working, ⏺their customer service is poor, ⏺the place itself if far from the city, only landmark it’s near at is SM Seaside, ⏺the place has lots of tambays drinking in front since it is located in a residential area. ⏺with that said, you can’t go out for a walk or just check the place for a fear of being robbed. ⏺if you’ll grab a taxi or car, make sure they’ll fetch or drop you at the very front of the pension house. Just to be safe.

⏺AND THEY ACCEPT SHORT TIME LODGING. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

You’ll feel me if you try to go out and they are all staring at you. You won’t feel secure, you’ll feel that anytime you’ll get robbed. I was not even confident leaving my personal belongings inside the room.

And oh, for reservations, you will have to pay the full price on your entire duration of your stay. They won’t accept partial payment for...

The rooms they offered was wayyyyyy to different from those photos they uploaded on their booking site. Its really disappointing. They might be renovating new rooms but they should offer those not the ones looking like a rotting room. No offense, but the first room they provided was room 309, it looked like a jail! The bed was so old and has a lot of vandalism. The cabinets are smelly wooden old piece of junk. Whats worse, the bathroom looked like a public rest room and the light switch are broken. And they posted on the website that it has FREE WIFI. But the real tea is, its only in the lobby. So you will have to go down just to get free SLOW wifi and theres even no signal inside the rooms. We decided to cancel the room and felt really scammed. They said they couldnt do refunds and offered us a different room thats near the lobby area. Its still stinks and sanitation wise? POOR. The room smell so old and there are alot of cockroaches. I Really do hope those new rooms are better and pls make some changes!! Clean your rooms before letting new customers go in! It is cheap yes, but show some care to people’s safety and health. So very not satisfied and not gonna go back...
