I really wanted to love Mithi Resort and Spa, but it just didn’t quite hit the mark. The positives: the pick-up service from the seaport was convenient, and the welcome drinks were refreshing. The resort has a beautiful swimming pool with seawater, which was a highlight, especially for our toddler who doesn’t like the sand or hot beach.
However, there were several issues. First, the experience on the way to the resort was off-putting. Our driver hit a street dog. We understand that the driver might have been trying to avoid a full brake because we were traveling with a toddler without a car seat, but the issue is that no one apologized or acknowledged it. It felt like it was brushed off, and nobody even talked about it, which left us feeling unsettled.
The deluxe room had a nice view, but traveling with a toddler meant the lack of doors between the bathroom, shower, and toilet was a bit inconvenient. Kids love to explore, so this was a concern. Additionally, the bathroom and toilet were equipped with tension rods to hang the shower curtains, which can easily fall down. This was particularly worrying because toddlers tend to pull on things, and we were concerned that our child might be hit if the curtain fell.
The balcony fence also had large gaps, which could be a safety risk for children.
The spa was fine, but nothing special, and the food was just okay. One situation that stood out was when I ordered distilled water during the free breakfast buffet because my toddler won’t drink anything else. After I placed the order, the bill for the bottled water was brought to me immediately. I hadn’t asked for it. A few minutes later, the waitress returned and pointed to the bill, asking if the money was already inside. She didn’t even ask if I would be paying in cash or charging it to the room when she first handed me the bill, which made me feel rushed and uncomfortable, especially since I was still eating.
Upon checkout, the lobby wasn’t air-conditioned, and I had to wait longer than expected for the official receipt. While waiting, I noticed other guests were checking in and receiving their welcome drinks. I thought, since it was taking a while for my receipt, why not ask for the same drink? However, I was offered water instead because, apparently, it was only for guests checking in. But, come on, this is a premium resort with a premium rate. You can’t offer me just one glass of juice? When they saw the frustration on my face, they finally gave me the welcome drink.
Additionally, the resort has strict rules about visitors. They don’t allow tricycles inside, and visitors can’t come after 10 p.m., which caused issues for me when trying to meet a relative who lives in Bohol and works in the hospitality industry. He was working late, so he couldn’t arrive before 10 p.m., which felt a bit rigid, especially considering the high prices of the resort. I think they could do something about this, like implementing a system or a sign-in sheet to better manage visitors, instead of such a strict cutoff.
Overall, while the resort has potential, there were too many small issues that added up. I’m giving it three stars. I’m unsure if I’d return, but I’ll...
Read moreHONEST REVIEW I visited this location several years ago when it was known as Panglao Island Nature Resort, and I had a truly enjoyable experience during my previous stay. This positive experience sparked my curiosity to revisit the place, now under a new name. Considering my frequent trips to Bohol, I figured, "Why not give it a try?" However, I would like to provide some feedback based on my recent three-day, two-night stay.
Firstly, they offered a complimentary airport/seaport transfer service, which was a very thoughtful touch, considering the usually high transportation costs from Bohol to Panglao for tourists. Upon our arrival, the atmosphere was serene, and the check-in process was efficient. They kindly allowed us to check in early since our room was ready, which was a plus. However, they didn't provide the welcome drink and fruit that is typically complimentary. I also noticed that there were no public restrooms available in the Front Office or restaurant; guests had to return to their rooms for restroom facilities.
Regarding the bar and restaurant, the bar lacked a welcoming ambiance, with a dry atmosphere and no background music. Consequently, we decided to order our drinks in the restaurant. It's worth mentioning that the bar was somewhat pricey; for instance, a margarita cost over 400 pesos, even though they used relatively inexpensive tequila. To enhance the drink's quality, we had to add extra shots of better tequila.
As for the restaurant, the food was undeniably delicious, but the menu had limited options. Was the food worth the price? In our opinion, yes, because it tasted excellent. I personally loved their mashed potatoes.
Let me shed some light on the room. It's impeccably clean and spotless, but there's a noteworthy downside. The bed has an unpleasant musty, damp odor that's hard to ignore. Initially, I requested fresh, clean sheets, thinking the issue was related to the bedding. To my surprise, the odor actually emanated from the bed itself, and it clung to my clothes. Despite recent room renovations, it seems they overlooked the necessity of either acquiring new beds or conducting a thorough cleaning. Additionally, the Wi-Fi in our room was less than satisfactory; I contacted them for assistance, but the issue persisted. We briefly contemplated upgrading to a villa, but we couldn't find compelling reasons to do so since the services, location, and ambiance appeared to be similar, perhaps with the exception of a more comfortable bed and a see view? Hehehe.
The customer service was just okay. I didn't have much interaction with the staff, and their presence was not particularly noticeable. Most of our interactions occurred in the restaurant, and it seemed like some of the staff were interns or newly hired employees.
In summary, the location is incredibly relaxing, with excellent views and a great pool, but the standout issue was the unpleasant bed odor. If you seek solitude or a quiet retreat, this place might be perfect, especially for introverts. However, if you're outgoing and looking for more excitement, I'd recommend staying in...
Read moreTOO MANY CHARGES FOR A BEACH WEDDING!!Event Cancelled,No Money Back! My husband and I were planning to have a beach wedding ceremony in Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa ( P.I.N.R) dream islet supposedly next year. Their dream islet looks really beautiful and is perfect for a beach wedding. I admit I fell in love with the dream islet just by looking at the pictures online because the last time that I visited Bohol,Philippines in 2010 I haven't seen this place yet. So I inquire through email about their wedding package. They don't have a viber account which is not good. JP, the event executive sent me the resort's blissful wedding package . For 50 persons its 120, 000 php most likely equivalent to 2,500 US dollars, the price is not bad. And 1, 920 PHP for an additional person. The wedding package has inclusions as well such as overnight stay in the resorts superior room, bridal car,use of the venue for four hours,a basic sound system,an asian buffet menu,a cake, wedding guest book and pen,30 minutes use of their spa,lcd projector, and ect, But they don't provide you a dance floor, and stage for the dream islet venue. Anyways, I have paid 20, 000 =420$ upfront for them to block the wedding venue on our desired wedding date. Its non refundable and non convertible. I have family in the philippines who sent the money through a bank transfer to the resort's name. For additional wedding charges, wines and liquors that are bought in BQ Mall, a mall owned by the same person who owns the resort, the corkage fee is 10% based on the selling price. If bought in other stores the corkage is 50% per bottle. If you outsource fruits and sweets There are charges as well. Another important thing is that if you have guests that are children, they are considered as one cover. Usually in the Philippines when you have guests that are kids under 7 years old, they are free of charge, but In this resort they aren't. In a nutshell, we changed our mind and decided to look into another beach resort in panglao island as well,i wont disclose the name yet. The new resort is way different from P.I.N.R in terms of wedding package. If you ask them to change something on their wedding package, they are considerate and will allow you to for free. Kids under 7 years old are for free. You can bring 2 "lechon" without any corkage. There are charges in the new resort that we have found but not too many compared to this PINR resort. I am writing this review for the ladies out there who are planning there beach wedding in this resort, to be aware of all the charges!!!!! that they will give you on your wedding. Anyways, they didnt give my money back, although the wedding would still be in march 2017.I asked them nicely to give my money back because we are helping them too. Some of my wedding guests have booked to them and so I'kinda helping them but they said no. How kind of them not to give...
