Laciaville Resort Hotel — Hotel in Lapu-Lapu

We had booked this hotel months in advance of our arrival. Paid for in full beforehand. We had spent the day travelling from Oslob and we were all exhausted. Upon arrival we were told that there was a problem with the booking and we could not stay. The lady behind the desk (who was helpful and this was no fault of hers but was being provided with false information on the phone from the manager), kept telling us false information. ||Firstly, she informed me that they had contacted us to inform us of the problem which was incorrect.||Then, I was told that they don’t take booking.com booking, another thing that was incorrect as I had proof through the website that the booking had gone through and it was still booked on the website, not cancelled.||Finally, they said the payment hadn’t been taken, again incorrect, as I had the bank statements and receipts to prove it.||This was late at night and we had a flight early the next morning and took quite a while to resolve. Eventually, the lady behind the desk found an alternative hotel for us. ||I would not recommend this place to my enemy – unless you want a headache and a rude, deceitful manager who couldn’t be more unhelpful in a situation only their establishment is...

PROS:||- Staff was friendly. They helped us order delivery from McDonalds!||- Clean rooms.||- Close to the airport.||||||CONS:||- We stayed here as an overnight to catch a flight the next day and thought they offered free transportation, but it was only free for pick-ups.||- The place is hidden among a tiny alleyway. Our taxi driver didn't know the way and it took awhile to find it.||- The room is like a townhouse and has a first floor with living room and kitchen. The stairs are too steep (concerning since I had small kids). The bathrooms and 2 of the bedrooms are tiny (can be a little claustrophobic).||||||OVERALL:||This place is ok since we only stayed there a night, but I don't think I would...

The staff were friendly and cooperative. However the state of the apartment was horrible. The walls had mold on every corner, there was a nasty smell throughout the entire place, every room desperately needed a mopping, AC needed cleaning, and it was filled flies and mosquitoes. I ended up leaving after just an hour in the place to seek better accomodations. The neighborhood it's in feels extremely unsafe too. Though that could just be because I'm a foreigner. The taxi driver who got me and my girlfriend out of there told us that many foreigners had similar or the same experience. Thankfully I was given a full refund...
