I cannot say enough good words about this place!
We only stayed 2 nights but it's the one place that had stuck out on our trip of 3 months.
The first night we arrived there was some sort of a mix-up with rooms and we had to stay in a smaller room than the one we paid for however we were able to get our room back the next day and the owners (Alfred & Maria) made up for it in other ways, they were so generous trying to make it up to us and we really appreciated it.
The property is right on a black sand beach which helps keep the whole place a bit cooler as there's no air conditioning but the fan was sufficient. It was also so peaceful hearing the waves as you fall asleep.
The owners gave us mosquito repellent devices and an emergency light, and while we didn't actually need to use either, it was really good that they provided it just in case! (We have been to places that did not provide these or warn us of potential power cuts or bugs and we needed them and it contributed to a bad stay)
I had suffered a lot of mosquito bites from a previous stay on another island and Maria applied a topical treatment to help them which was so sweet and unexpected and really helped!
There are lots of dogs on the property and they are all so sweet and friendly and we loved having them with us! Especially Chase, the big softy ❤️
The attention to details and the kindness and generosity from the owners made this an incredible stay and we cannot be more thankful. If we are ever in Camiguin again, we will be coming straight back here!
Only negatives would be the noise. Between the dogs and the other locals that live nearby, it can...
Read moreWe stayed at Borbons for 3 nights and had a lovely time. We were boundfully welcomed by their German shepherd and fully immersed in the more authentic camiguin experience. It was our first experience of life on the Philippine islands and although a shock to the system at first we felt a nice homely feeling whenever we returned to Borbons after a long day of exploring. The bed was very comfy and our little cocoon under the mosquito net became our little safe space as we adapted to island life. You fall asleep to the sound of the waves and the gecko noises in the night so you feel fully surrounded by nature.
Bare in mind you will need to rent a scooter to get anywhere or hire tuk tuks as it's quite a long walk to town. We could rent a bike from the owners to explore the island who were on the whole helpful when we needed them. The place is right on the beach line and provided a great view at sunset. Waking up to a breakfast overlooking the sea as well was very nice.
This place will always have a small space in our...
Read moreBorbon's Treehouse was a great place to stay in Camaguin at such great value by the beach. The rooms are big, and Maria and Alfred have really thought of everything to make the place comfortable while keeping it minimalistic and looking after nature and the animals at the same time. It is such a relaxing and peaceful place which you could stay at for a couple of nights or longer if you needed some tranquil time out. The wi-fi is exceptional too for such a location. The dogs also made our stay extra special as we love them and they are all so friendly. Maria, Alfred and the other staff are also so helpful and accommodating with nothing a bother to them. Motorcyle rental, and recommended tour guides were also exceptional and great value - and also super friendly. We hope to...
