Giswold Lagunde Beach Resort — Hotel in Oslob

Beware of the family room- it is so outdated, dirty, needs renovation at almost all areas- contrary to the signage on the door that the house is well maintained. The window screens have holes, bathroom window with wasp nest, bathroom looks disgusting. Some items are in weird location, such as sink beside shower, metal bars/steps on the walls, can't use the night lights - one is broken, one needs to be plugged beside the bed so you need to move the entire bed frame to plug it in. The shower curtain has streaks of white cream on it in arrival, the shower does not work, the vanity was dirty, bathroom door has stains. The kettle works sporadically, kitchen also looks dirty. I can't consider it a "resort" - pool has dirty water and unswimmmable, the beach has no shore so you have to wait for the low tide to access the beach, no proper steps to go down the beach- you need to go down the sets of boulders which I think is very unsafe. If you are really looking for a beach resort where you can really swim, this one is not for you.. They have a swimming pool, which is nice.. ||||Room is very basic. I think they need more electric outlets since there's only one, my friend and I took turns in charging our gadgets.. Town is around 10 mins away and whaleshark is around 25 mins (by motorcycle). the staffs BTW, are really friendly and indeed one of their staffs contacted our driver and arranged our trip not only going to the whaleshark but also going to Alegria (canyoneering, Kawasan waterfalls).. ||||what I love is that they are not really strict with the check in time. We arrived at the hotel around 10am then checked out before 1pm the next morning and they did not charge us extra for this! :) I guess because we were there in the weekdays that's why they're lenient about the check in/check out time. ||||If you're just looking for a place to sleep in while in Oslob, you can stay here. but don't expect your room to be...

This place is everything if you want location - and great food when you want it. But keep in mind the price, which is great for its 2-star rating. If you want a newer room, book one at the rear. But if you want to step off the balcony & straight into the ocean - be happy for an older room (and I MEAN OLDER ) right on the OCEAN-FRONT! I love hearing the gentle waves lapping at the rock foundations when the tide is in, and watching the sun come up over the ocean, and the krill fishermen boating to and fro.. Beautiful. It's kind of tacky for Western tastes, but we absolutely loved it here and we always come back here every chance we get because the people who run it are chill, and it's a great place for us to just chill too - and forget about everything. Just don't be fussy, ok. And PLEASE don't tease Nora the monkey. Give her some love from me..but not too close! Much love from...
