The GV hotel is very near to the pier, walking distance. This is one of the biggest advantages of this hotel. With the free early check in for boat travelers (starting 6 am pending availability) it is a good choice for anyone arriving by boat. The GV logo anywhere in the Philippines stands for pretty barren, simple and clean lodging at a competitive rate and this hotel also fits that description. The rooms are simple and a bit barren. That having said, there is nothing really wrong about it also, and it is very affordable with rates around 600 php. If you book ahead you can pay by credit card online, in the hotel only with cash. The hotel is walking distance from Gaisano mall and through the main street it is easy to reach any place in the city center. There is a free wifi that is working flawlessly in the hotel lobby, where there are some tables to sit.||A bit about the surroundings. Ozamiz has the dubious reputation of having been elected the dirtiest city (from Mindanao? from Philippines?, not sure, based on anecdotes from inhabitants) some years ago and although it has improved it still has a lot of street garbage and dust. This sensation also might be related to the colour of the soil in the area, which is grey and black. Not so far is also the "black beach" named after the dark sand. Ozamis is nice in daytime but always somewhat dusty and chaotic to the eye with the many motorcycles, tricycles and pedicabs. I found people friendly, even though there are more beggars and people living on the edge of poverty visible in the streets here than in some other places in Philippines I visited. At night it becomes somewhat gloomy, most establishments close early, and the ones still open are some 24hour fastfoods and a limited nightlife. Although I never had any trouble there, still the streets at night look slightly unsafe and dark, and I havent seen much patrols or safety personnel...
Read moreI recently stayed at GV Hotel Ozamiz City during a business trip, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The hotel is located in a convenient location, close to many restaurants and shops, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities I needed for my stay. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well, which was important since it was quite hot outside. The bathroom was also clean and well-maintained, with plenty of hot water for my shower.
One thing I particularly appreciated about GV Hotel Ozamiz City was the free Wi-Fi. As someone who needs to stay connected for work, having reliable internet access was crucial, and I was happy to find that the hotel's Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.
The hotel also had a restaurant on-site, which was convenient for grabbing a quick meal or snack. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Overall, I had a great experience at GV Hotel Ozamiz City. The hotel provided everything I needed for a comfortable and convenient stay, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that I had a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay in...
Read moreNO OUTLETS/PLUGS in our rooms (Deluxe Queen Php850 and Regular Queen Php650) except one near the TV which would need a longer cord for you to be able to charge something tbh.
You should bring power banks!
The amenities are alright. There was a functioning Hot&Cold shower in the Deluxe Room but NONE in the Regular Room.
Check in at 2PM but they allowed us to check in at 11AM. It depends on the availability of the rooms.
COMPARISON: Deluxe Room - Spacious Room (could fit two extra beds), Hot&Cold Shower, Spacious cabinet, Table, Chair, Basic Toiletries (no toothpaste/toothbrush), Aircon 💯, no sound-proofing though haha.
Regular Room - Not Spacious (could not fit another bed), No Hot&Cold Shower, Smaller cabinet, Table, Chair, Basic Toiletries (no toothpaste/toothbrush), Aircon 💯, no sound-proofing and near the stairs!!!
Had not been able to take photos. But the rooms were clean, paint was new (peach), and they make use of electronic key cards (this is added security!)
I recommend going for the deluxe rooms! ☺️
Would have rated 3.5 but going for 4 as it is accessible (walking distance from Ozamiz Port;...
