FOOD We had our late lunch earlier at this restaurant. The prices of the food were reasonable for their portions and taste. We ordered the following: Pork omurice- too sweet, a little savory. The rice was flooded with their sauce then topped with the scrambled egg then flooded again with (I think) the same sauce. Katsudon- did not appreciate the rice to katsudon ratio. It had like 8 slices of the meat on top of what I thought was a mountain of 2 cups of rice mixed w/ their sauce. Taste wise, so-so Tantanmen- better than I expected. It had a little kick, and the nutty flavor which is expected of a tantanmen was apparent. The price was reasonable for the serving size. California maki- too much rice, not enough filling in between.
SERVICE It sucked at first. The one who took our order (a largely built gay guy) gestured (yes gestured) my partner to come to the bar area to ask for our order. No greeting, no "come here". Is this how you're supposed to get your customers' orders? The one who brought out our orders (smaller guy) was more polite.
ATMOSPHERE I find it contradicting that they posted a "no pets allowed" poster on their door and there was a dachshund inside while everybody was eating! Makes me question the place's sanitary practices. picture of said...
Read moreI visited Joey's Ramen House on a rainy day in search of shelter and was initially drawn in by its inviting atmosphere. However, the ambiance didn't quite match my expectations of a traditional Japanese vibe; instead, it felt more like a local eatery. Disappointingly, they didn't offer a chicken-based ramen option like shio, so I opted for karaage and Japanese miso soup.
The prices were typical for a small Japanese eatery, comparable to places like Tokyo Tokyo. My overall impression was underwhelming, mainly due to the ambiance, which could benefit from improvements in music and lighting to create a more authentic atmosphere and better guest experience.
Regarding the food, it was satisfactory but could use some enhancements, particularly in the condiments and flavor profile. With some adjustments, Joey's Ramen House has the potential to offer a more enjoyable dining experience. I'd rate it...
Read moreThe service was horrible. The staff pick and choose who to greet when costumers enter. They didn’t have enough seating so they made us join a couple’s table. Nobody gave us a menu so we just asked the neighboring costumers for theirs after they ordered. The guy that served us didn’t bring enough utensils, and didn’t give us water after we asked for a refill. Overall, staff are inattentive and slow (people were leaving).
Ordered their spiciest ramen and it was so salty I couldn’t finish it. Their Tonkotsu and Shoyu ramen were so-so. The maki rolls were really good tho.
The bill they gave us was a mere piece of school paper with a hand-written breakdown of our order. For a fancy looking restaurant, you would expect a...
