If what you're looking for is an authentic Boholano hospitality experience, then this is the exact place to be.
Mama Mary, Mama Nedie and Allen were so gracious. They always made sure that we get most out of every attraction in Pamilacan Island. Their rating for hospitality should have been more than 5 stars.
The bamboo room accommodation was simple, tidy and clean. It's basic, but has it's own comfort room. It reflects the island's way of living and a good way to immerse with the local culture. If you hear something scratching on the wall, be afraid not, it's just a juvenile crab that likes to explore the of rest Pamilacan.
Mary's Cottage also offers a fresh and sumptuous meal. Oh, they're vegetable spring rolls, stir fried veggies and fish soup are mouth-watering. If you're on keto or vegan diet, they're sensitive and flexible enough to attend to your needs.
Mama Mary and her team have been hands-on in arranging our dolphin and sea turtle watching as well as our snorkeling activity. My bestfriend and I were so luck to have seen such wonderful creatures. The corals and their sanctuary are spectacular, they blow my mind! The island's pristine beach entices you to burn every skin in your body. I love it, i don't like to go home. It's thick fine sand makes it perfect for sea turtle's nesting ground.
The ocean curret added the thrill to this devine island experience. Be on the go during the morning because the sea gets rough in the afternoon, that's the reason why we were stranded for one more night, and I don't regret that happened for it made me spent one long precious moment in this island paradise.
Definitely I'll be coming...
Read morefirst, we travelled in Pamilacan island as the guide said it is her home island, she lives there blah blah blah. we had breakfast there as we went 05:00 AM and reached the first island around 07:00 AM. breakfast was horrible, cold pancakes, coffee, tea and even cold hotdogs, not so clean UTENSILS and cost 300 PHP each plate (terribly expensive). the lady tour guide kept us waiting for almost 2hrs until we asked what's next : then she said we cant go to the second island due to the bad weather, then she starts to offer her Nipa huts to stay for the night (like seriously?? some sort of modus to lure the tourist and earn money) we said we wont stay in the island the whole day then she said what we can do is to snorkel in the island, we did some snorkeling for about 1hr and then we asked her to take us back in the Pier, as she said we couldnt go to Bantayan and Virgin Islands anymore. so, eventually the lady tour guide took us back to the Pier and we called Jojo (to whom we booked the tour), he offered to take another boat trip to Virgin Island, we did the boat trip which took us only 10 mins to reach Virgin Island. we stayed for 1hr and then took us back to the hotel. we asked Jojo for a refund as we did not do Dolphin, whale and turtles watching so as we only visited 2 islands. We got a refund of 2k. I strongly suggest that you book for other more trustworthy tour guides and...
Read moreThis review is for the dolphin and whale watching experience from baclayon. The boat left from baclayon pier at around 5:30am just as the sun was rising and took around 45 minutes to arrive at the area where the dolphins were swimming which was just off the pamilacan island. Although the dolphins were rather shy they would pop up out of the sea untill a boat was maybe 100 meters away then they would decend back into the depths for a few minutes then pop back up several hundred meters away and the chase would start again. So don't expect them to be riding the wake of your boat. The boat itself is kind of like a motorised katamaran. After around an hour of dolphin chasing we headed to pamilacan island for breakfast which consisted of 2 pancakes a fried egg and a coffee which cost 500 peso for 2 people and was the only option available. On the island they offer other activities such as snorkeling 1 hour for 500 peso as you need to travel to another island. Fishing including night fishing ect. The island also consists of quaint little wooden huts which you can hire to sleep in there are also houses for hire with full amenities. The island beach did have some rubbish mainly plastic items but not to much. Although the dolphins were a little elusive it was an experience I won't forget and worth the 2.5k peso for...
