I absolutely loved my experience in this place. Overall, it was probably the best accommodation I’ve stayed at in my 5 weeks of exploring The Philippines. The range of accommodations I stayed in also really varied from each other…from budget hotels and hostels, to boutique Airbnb’s and luxury beach resorts. I can definitely find an appreciation for these different types of accommodations based on reasonable expectations and for the price you pay, but Homa Resort was definitely a great way to end my trip here on the islands.
The staff, Shayra and her team, go above and beyond to really make you feel at home and be as accommodating as possible, while being very professional and respectful of the privacy of the guests. They are just so sweet and friendly and always make sure you are well taken care of.
The rooms are impeccable and spacious without being too clinical. The showers have hot water and great pressure and my shower area had glass walls which directly viewed the lush green garden outside. It felt like I was showering in the jungle without the insects. Wifi in my room as well as within the property grounds was great. And the beds were very comfortable.
The property is so beautiful and serene. Probably the most peaceful and quiet place I’ve stayed at in my travels here. I really appreciated that you can’t hear the motorists on the road or hear karaoke singing in the early hours of the morning or late at night. The quietness is really such a treat. The view from the infinity pool was just stunning. I didn’t want to stop swimming and staring out into the ocean. Swimming at night here while having a beer or cocktail was next to heaven. There is access to the ocean and although there’s no beach and it’s quite rocky, the water is so clear it’s wonderful snorkelling spot. The food from the restaurant was also delicious, very decently priced and great portions, as well.
It is located just about 20min drive from the ferry port in Consuelo. And it’s about a 15-20 minute walk to one of the best beaches on Camotes Island (Santiago Beach). There’s also a few restaurants and bars on Santiago Beach. I definitely look forward to staying here again and bringing some friends and...
Read moreI thought the pictures online looked good, but the view is better than can be captured with a camera. It's a panoramic view from left to right with ocean as far as the eye can see, bookended by coconut and banana trees, and some vivid pink flowers. I couldn't stop sharing pictures of this view to my friends back home. I sat out here every morning with my laptop to catch up on emails, and then at meal times when I wasn't out doing activities, and then again when using the pool or getting a massage.
It's the most quiet place I've ever been in the Philippines by far. No noisy motorcycles or roosters. No dogs barking all day. No karaoke singers singing to the whole neighborhood. Just birds chirping. There are only a few guestrooms, so it's not crowded. Just quiet and serene. It's the kind of thing I imagine when I am hard at work and picturing myself on vacation relaxing.
They have a zero edge pool that you can hang out in while taking in the ocean view - and a jacuzzi that also has a view. There is ocean access for swimming and exploring, but no white sand beach. Personally, I'd rather swim in the pool and look at the ocean, rather than have to deal with what's potentially under the water like seaweed and sharp rocks - and the tide is always high with a pool.
Food was good. You get personalized service because there are only a few guestrooms. The focus is on pleasing the guest, not efficiency or profit. They have huge portion meals at a small price.
I plan to use this...
Read moreWe had a very enjoyable experience with HOMA Resort. Special thanks to the owner and staff for being accommodating and bringing us around the island. Hotel has a very homey vibe and welcoming staff, they responded quickly to our requests. Facility is quite new as hotel reopened recently.
Best way to contact them was through their Facebook page. Payment is in cash at the moment. You can get to camotes island on ferry from Danao port, it took us 1 hour from Cebu airport to Danao port and around 2-3 hours on ferry to island. Nearby is a large beach Santiago Bay, within walking distance 10-15min.
They provide basic amenities such as towels, soap, toothbrush and 3-in-1 shampoo. You might need to bring your hairdryer as it’s not provided. Other basics can be bought in small shop nearby. Karaoke, massage, manicure/pedicure are available upon request. They serve local cuisine at the hotel as well. Overall great...
