We got the number from our Lonely Planet and called. We had sworn we would live a bit on the edge and just rock up to the Camotes and walk in to somewhere and book but.....||||Anyway, location is amazing, Opens on to the very beach. Fantastic. (FYI Santiago Bay beach is useless for swimming. Sea is always miles out.)||||The rest, rubbish. We had arranged a pick up from the ferry in Consuelo - no show. We got to the Payag Beach House Resort and an extremely disinterested lady demanded money up front. And that was the last we really saw or heard from her. ||||Our room was facing on to the beach but was utterly tiny. I leave considerations on interior design etc to my better half but even I could see that this room was horrible. ||||Communal bathroom - filthy, full of ants, impossible to shower and emerge cleaner than you went in. ||||Some dude slept on the bench in the communal 'lobby' area. Snored like a pig, I don't believe he had any business there, just wandered in and crashed.||||One morning, a sullen teenager, who may or may not have been the same girl in pictures plastered around the 'lobby' area, came and did a clean up. She put her phone on the reception desk and played her pop songs on full as she wandered around listlessly sweeping the floor. Bear in mind, all 8 matchbox rooms open up in to this lobby area. It was 6 AM and just bright, so I got up to see what was going on - it's not as if sleeping was an option. There she was, passive-aggressiving any remaining good out of the experience of staying there.||||Lonely Planet called this place 'authentic', and chose their words carefully in describing it. I didn't read between the lines closely enough and paid the price. It is a rubbish dump and if it were knocked down, some enterprising person could build a great guesthouse on a fabulous location.||||PS The Camotes are lovely. We were super taken with San Francisco town. Do yourself a favour and rent a moped and go over there. Finally, a Philippino town that was tidy, charming and had a great feeling. It was a pleasure to stay somewhere that the residents took obvious pride in maintaining. The causeway/bridge over to the other island is worth a ride over. It would have been great if we had have booked somewhere to stay...

Read moreI was with a friend when we booked a room in this resort. It's quite cheap so we decided to stay here for a night. When we arrived it was still quiet, it was early though so I thought it's really a good place to stay. The view of the beach is really great but not this house resort. The toilet is not clean. There is no running water. If you wish you take a shower you still have to ask a staff to get water for you. It's really inconvenient. I thought that's the only negative thing about the place but there was even worse thing.||There is no house rules set in this place. So, people can do whatever they want. The staff go home at night so nobody left in the resort but just the guests. There is no security or whatsoever.||My friend and I got very tired of the day trip we had on that day, so we decided to sleep early around 9pm and hour later, a noise outside awaken us. A group of foreigners ( to be exact Koreans ) is drinking, laughing, shouting etc. They were extremely noisy. I went outside to check if there is someone I can talk to regarding the nuisance but there was no one. You can check the photo I took to testify that there is no staff or security guard on duty in the resort. ||Since there was no one there except the noisy foreigners. I approached them nicely and asked them if they could lower down there voice because we are already sleeping. The said, "yes" but actually a few minutes later. There voice became louder and louder. We tried to endure it for a couple of hours, hoping they will get tired and sleepy and soon go back to their rooms but they didn't. They even played music and so on....||To cut the story short we couldn't sleep well and of having a relaxing moment in the resort. We felt angry and so dissatisfied of staying in this resort.||I swear I will never gonna go back to this place ever again. Even they offer me free accommodation.||I took some photos of the Koreans who got drank...
