Few years back, I booked a room in this hotel for 2 weeks while I was looking for an apartment to rent in the Szczecin city, anybody in the stuff team could speak English, however, everything was considerably fine, and in the second week when I found an apartment in the city, I still had 4 days already paid in the hotel so I decided to move part of my things to the new apartment and leave the rest in the hotel until I had some free time to move the rest of the things from the hotel room to my new apartment which happened 2 days later, and SURPRISE SURPRISE when I got back in the hotel and opened my room door, there were 2 strange guys naked in there and all my stuff was gone! For a moment I thought I was in the wrong room but after double checking, that room was actually the right one! So when I went to the receptionist (Who didn't speak English) to ask many questions I had in mind, I had to wait 1 hour until they found someone who could translate our conversation, and what I heard from them is that I had checked out 2 nights before when I clearly didn't, the woman in the reception kept being rude and saying that I left the room and that's enough to say that I checked out, however, she couldn't answer whenever I was asking her why I still had they keys for the room and she also couldn't show me the register of my check out in the system. In resume, these guys, put all my stuff out of the room and rent my room to 2 other guys while the room was still booked to myself!!! (I would like to mention again that the room was already paid for more 4 days counting from the next day as I have left the room in the evening), part of my things that were in the room never appeared again and they have never gave an answer to me. The stress was so huge that I never had the chance of leaving a review for these guys on Google, so I am making sure to write it now so everyone is...
Read moreThe hotel was excellent value for money and the reviewer endorses other reviewers in that the hotel was clean, comfortable, offered a good breakfast and a fair-sized television in the room. However there were some minor short-comings which I list below.|| First there was no lift, so if stairs are a problem, make sure before booking that you have a ground floor room. || Second on check-out, the bill was converted into pounds without my consent. This costs the client more than a bill in zlotys. Third the hotel could not offer refreshments apart from breakfast, so one has to go to the nearby shopping mall. Even here no shop offered to sell a cup of tea. So, if one exits the mall to the west and then turns north, one is led to a Spanish restaurant, which managed to sell a cup of tea, but it was only passable and not tempting. || Fourth getting to the hotel from the station meant a long uphill walk or else a taxi, or a complicated bus and tram trip. Buses 61 and 81 from the station run express along Al Piastow, so you have to change to a parallel running tram, which stops about 100m from the hotel. You should buy a 1 hour ticket, which covers both journeys. The bus and tram trip is not recomended for a first visit. However a taxi should be affordable. About £6. In the past, for the return trip to the Glowny station, I have walked down the hill and used the western entrance to the station. The walk took about 20 minutes and one needed to know the way through back streets to the western entrance of the Glowny station.|| Do not be put off by these minor, adverse comments. You can book the Kapitan with confidence. The tramstop 100m from the hotel is served by three routes, so getting to the City Centre for shopping or meals, or the Shipyard is easy. ...
Read moreAccess to the hotel was from an access road behind the Law and Administration Faculty of the Szczecin University. This meant the hotel was in a fairly quiet spot, but was still within a 2km radius of most of Szczecin's central attractions. There is a Biedronka supermarket located within a 5 minute walk from the hotel, right next to a Bike Share station at Plac Dziecka (though you obviously need to register to use these bikes and they aren't available all year round.)||From memory, there is no lift at the hotel so for those with mobility issues this may be a consideration.||Rooms are a reasonable size, clean and comfortable, with the basic facilities one would normally expect, including a proper little bar of soap and a little tube of shampoo, rather than my pet hate of shower gel dispensers on the wall like some hotels seem to do these days. ||Breakfast was included in my tariff, which was the equivalent of about €27,70 per night for my single room with private bathroom. While I've stayed in cheaper places, I'd say this was a very good value, and the provided breakfast was also of a good standard. No complaints from me here, especially for those who are looking to be fairly close to the train/bus stations as the Hotel Kapitan is approximately a 1.5 kilometre...
