A very unfriendly owner. When we arrived, she left us standing at reception for five minutes as she was busy with an obviously private phone call. Then she took us to our room. The twin room we booked actually had two beds, but they were right next to each other. As there were bedside tables right next to the beds on the wall, it was not possible to move the beds apart. In the morning we wanted to take a shower, but the water was cold! We tried to call the telephone number given on the website but only got an answering machine. We then found another telephone number on the bill, which we finally used to reach the owner. As she apparently lives directly opposite, she was there straight away, but told us that the cold water was normal as she didn't have any customers???? What about us???? When I complained, she simply walked away. The room was otherwise okay, but the friendliness towards the guest was zero. On top not one plug in the bathroom and mouldy joints in the shower....

The room we got was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. It also had a small balcony with a good view on the surrounding fields. Breakfast in the morning was rich and tasty. A wide selection of fruit (which however was served with only one fruit tong for all the different kind of fruit), bread, hot food and juices. We also had to wait a while before being able to leave the keys at the reception before departing. There should probably be someone at the reception at all times to ensure guests wouldn't...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing two night stopover at the Hotel Alcatruz whist cycling along the Rota Vicentina route. The reception was empty when we arrived and when somebody turned up we were not made to feel welcome, more an inconvenience. The room was tiny and not particularly clean and breakfast in the café next door was rather chaotic, a case of getting orders in at the counter in-between the locals getting their morning coffee and pastries. The overall impression is that they do not need to make an effort with hotel guests as the café is always busy and there is a continuous supply of walkers who will stay for one night...
