Previously enjoyed staying at this Hotel in July 2014, when the evening meals were extremely well prepared and presented. On this occasion, upon arrival, despite making a reservation for three nights on a "Media Pension" - Half Board (evening meal included) basis we were advised that there was no kitchen facility, that (apparently) they have experienced problems with the chef, and that they could not offer any food at nighttimes. We would be given a voucher, to cover our meals to be taken at a local Restaurant (which was "Restaurante Vale da Telha - Jose"). Very unfortunately, the value of the voucher was insufficient to cover what we chose from their menu and had to spend over €70,00 (€17,80, €26,70,€25,80) as additional to the allowance. Of course, these values include for our drinks, which amounted to approximately €25,00, (house wine, water, etc.) for which we would expect to pay extra. I mention the money, but this is not the issue ; it is the principle of the situation, that this establishment should not be trading as a Hotel (Two Star), but as a B. & B., to match the services on offer. Bye the way, no complaints about the food at Restaurante Vale da Telha - Jose ! [Good that it did not rain, because we had to walk to dinner]. This enforced 'situation' was a disappointment, but worse was the attitude of one of the staff (the night porter, and general "helper"). Upon returning from dinner (approximately 10.30 p.m.) on the first evening, we settled at a table in the general reception area, which also served as an area to partake of the most adequate and enjoyable breakfasts - (they had a good Lady chef to provide breakfasts, which included hot foods), and we were [aggressively] told not to sit there, or anywhere in the area (the only area for relaxation), as he was preparing to lay the tables for breakfasts and that at mid-night everything would be shut and lights turned off. Eventually, after us saying that if he stacked the plates and utensils on a nearby surface, that we would lay the crockery after we had played our game, (and before midnight). The bad tempered man stomped off (and never uttered another word to us for the remainder of our stay), despite always 'hovering' during breakfast times. "Management" next morning, informed us that there was no problem using a table and four chairs when we returned, after our dinners. There seems to be nobody in overall charge, and apparently the owner visits infrequently. The surrounding areas within the grounds of the hotel have become dilapidated, and are not maintained. Hair and shampoo products were not replaced after the second night. We wondered if this establishment would be trading next year ? When checking out, nobody was available to receive our keys ? Overall, not too good, but the breakfasts were good and the pool is acceptable. Regarding the general area, the Hotel is very well placed to visit all of the "Praia's" (beautiful bays - stunning scenery). The area is generally quiet and relaxing. We are sorry to have been let down, but considered the recording of our problems, deciding that to warn others of bad as well as good was a purpose of Trip Advisor ! Obviously, we shall not...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel as part of a tour group. I didn’t want to rate the hotel as average because the staff appears to really try to do a good job. You really need to have a vehicle if you were staying here. The beach is not close and there’s very few restaurants within walking distance.||This is a smaller hotel, but it does have a pool. The rooms are a step above basic. The bathroom fixtures were newer. The hotel does not have an elevator. The rooms do not have a safe. Our tour group pre-ordered dinner two days prior and our dinner was very good. Breakfast is ample for this size hotel.||The rooms have a small balcony. The heating and air-conditioning worked well. There was some English channels on the television. There was a tremendous lack (as in zero places) to charge my phone. I had to unplug a lamp in order to do it. ||The staff was always available when I needed something. The room was clean. There is a road right next to the back of the hotel but thankfully not many vehicles drive on it. I had a problem with mosquitos in my room on my third night. I don’t fault the hotel, but it kept me awake most...
Read moreThis Hotel looks like a 60's building with some charme to it. There are no more than 30 rooms , perhaps less. So the atmosphere seems to be relaxed and familiar. My room was straightforward, yet with all the necessary amenities. The room was spacious and had some character to it. Spotless clean. Comfortable bathroom and bed. The Hotel is located at the entrance of a area with holiday villas, scattered along various hectares of land belonging to a Natural Park. Two Restaurants are available at a walking distance, and also one Supermarket. The closest beach is about 5 minutes by car (Monte Clárigo) . A few minutes more and you get the the also famous Amoreira Beach. Arrifana Beach is about 15 minutes away from the hotel by car. There is an outside big swimming pool with social area around it. The Aljezur village is around 7 kms away. Breakfast was good, perhaps the best scrambled...
