Stayed here with a Habitat for Humanity team and in relation to other H4H hotels, this was like a 5 star resort. However, for the average traveler, this hotel would just be OK. It is not very expensive, but you also get what you pay for. ||||Our team was put into "single" rooms which are set up with the beds side by side in the center of the room. We did find out that they do move apart, but you'll have to do the grunt work. Also, compared to US standards, the pillows are VERY flat (think a folded sheet inside a pillow case). In the closet, there were some blankets so we folded those and put them under the "pillow". The actual rooms were neat and mostly clean, but our shower/bath didn't drain very well. I had to turn the shower off while not actually rinsing off to keep the tub from filling up to about mid-calf (checked with other team members and it is the norm...not clogged). I was happy to turn the water off though to conserve. ||||The hotel has a row of rooms on the even side 3rd floor (room numbers start with a 2, but are up on the 3rd floor of the hotel...) that have huge balconies that are larger than the rooms themselves, so if you are going in the summer, opt for those rooms. Don't expect great views from these rooms, as you are on the opposite end of town from the tourist things. However, you are within walking distance (5 minutes) of the river and old town, plus there are lots of shops and eateries in the same shopping plaza.||||The breakfast was pretty good and was the same each morning. Expect cereal, some croissants, coffee, hot chocolate mix, toast and jam, and yogurt. They also had eggs each morning and 2 different breakfast breads (chocolate, banana, coconut, etc). ||||The best part of the stay is the staff. They are very helpful and many of them speak English and a few speak Spanish. The lobby has a lot of seating and they offer drinks and snacks for sale. You can also use the breakfast room for meetings/playing cards at night, just ask the front desk to turn the lights on for you and let them know when you are done.||||Overall, this was a VERY good stay for a Habitat build and would've been a decent stay for a budget hotel for an...
Read moreThe Navarras Hotel excels in a couple of aspects. First, it is extremely well located, as it is just a couple of minutes walk from some of the best restaurants in Amarante. There is also various cafés, a market, and even shops nearby. Any specific need you may have will certainly be quickly solved. Second, the Hotel is part of a Group which controls the Amarante Water Park which we visited as part of a Hotel + Park Package.
The Hotel itself is decent, the rooms are sufficiently big and have all your essentials. The breakfast is possibly one of the weak points, with limited variety and some delay in replacing some of the offer. The staff is friendly and the hotel is kept clean, including rooms. There is parking available, although there is an additional price and you'll have to walk a bit to access the garage.
Overall, a good choice given...
Read moreThe cleaning of the room. For the other point just amazing: view on the town, where is the view. When you say that it's because there are something to see. Look photos took to the room and explain me the view. If you try to call us, you can forget they show us there method: "we don't take call when we are busy, like for now. He took the phone and replace it. With a nice smile." There are not busy... Room very noisy due to road, neighbours and water closet problem. No remote control for TV and hair conditioner. At reception they don't explain us and don't give us. Too busy we supposed. Breakfast zero. Take it other. Please change your mind and focus...
