My name is Juan Gallego, I have been hosted in this hotel a few years ago and last week, on first of november I come back to Bon Jesus church to celebrate the “All Saint’s Day”. I had gone with a Friend and i decided to invite him to the Restaurante, due to the great and exquisite service i had been given before when I was hosted a few years ago.
When we sat down at the table, the witness gave us the menu and we asked about the “Menu Offer” which cost exactly 25 euros and it included “A soup or an entrance, a main dish and a dessert”. We asked him, a medium age man, bald, and no very polite about this offer and he said us that we could ask for any dishe in the menu. So we both asked for a dish included in the frame with the title “Entrance”, for being more accurate, an duck and a boiled tuna. As a main dishes, and we exactly ask him in this way, we asked for two grilled codfish that, i have to say, were excelent. As a dessert we asked for a cheese with mermelade and a lemon creme.
Well, just at this point, this lunch was all right. The problema was that when i asked for the bill, a younger waitness brought it, and it was about one hundred euros. I claimed for this, and I explained the situation to the waitness but he said that he was very sorry but he couldnt do anything and the restaurant was going to close (It was about four pm). I asked for the reclamation book and he said… “Well, I am going to do a Little magic” and he brought the bill again. He had tweked some of the dishes that we had asked for before, but the bill was around eighty euros. I decided to pay because we had to travel and I couldnt waste my time arguing about it.
It really surprised me, becaused I was used to be treated really great at that hotel, and I dont think this behaviour was really appropiate. I really felt as this restaurant had cheated me in an unproper way. I would like to pay the service this restaurant have given to me on the Price it was offered (50 euros, 25 each person), but no more than that. I would like to reclaim the excess I paid. In that way, I am going to offer my checking account number if you want to satisfy my claims.
However, on the other way, I would be oblied to denunce this treatment to official consumers protection and turism authorities and to trigger law resources.

Desde já pedimos desculpa pelo sucedido e lamentamos não ter correspondido às suas maiores expectativas. Aproveitamos a oportunidade para, de forma sucinta, explicar o sucedido. Como pode verificar através dos anexos que enviamos, a sugestão do dia com o valor fixado nos 25,00€ S/ bebidas em nada tem a ver com o pedido efectuado. Dado o pedido não ter recaído sobre as nossas sugestões, mas sim sobre outros pratos que constam na carta, foi faturado de acordo com o valor fixado. Sugestão do Dia Entrada Salada de atum fresco pera abacate e vinagreta de ananás Peixe Lombo de bacalhau, cobertura de maionese e puré de assado Sobremesa Trilogia de sobremesas, carpaccio de frutas laminadas Pedido Efectuado Entrada Atum Braseado, Verduras em tomilho, vinagreta de ananás Peixe Bacalhau Confitado c/ batata doce e “molho à braga” Sobremesa Gratinado de citrinos com creme de amêndoa e gelado de limão A eliminação de um dos pratos da fatura a pagar, foi apenas um gesto de cortesia do colega que, de alguma forma, tentou minimizar a situação.
Acreditamos que tudo tenha passado por uma falha de comunicação entre as partes, e por tal, pedimos mais um vez as nossas sinceras desculpas. Esperamos voltar a vê-lo num futuro próximo, para que nos possamos redimir do sucedido. Continuação de uma excelente semana! Melhores Cumprimentos

Read moreKnowing the location and the price we were paying we expected a lot more from this hotel. Upon arrival we realized in the building the A/C was cut off we asked about the air and was told they can not turn it on due to the season. The front desk person added that this is all the hotels in Braga which was not true as we were just coming from Torre de Gomariz Wine & Spa with outstanding accommodations. Hotel do Elevador should advertise this A/C issue in their website so guest are aware prior to booking. The location was convenient for our stay due to a wedding at the church and had a great views only benefit. Beds were flat, cheap, outdated, and hallways smelled moldy. At the end of our stay they tried to charge my card for 3 nights when we originally only had 2 nights booked. We could not stay the 2 nights due to how hot it go in the room which we had to leave and only stayed one night. We tried checking out at 9am which check out is at 12:00 noon and front desk person continued to try and charge my card for 3 night multiple times. I blocked my card before the charges. I left the premises and got a hold of management where they then apologized and charged my card for 1 night. Unpleasant and unprofessional...
Read moreI grew up in Braga and Hotel do Elevador, in the beautiful Bom Jesus do Monte, was a real iconic hotel, back in the 60's and early 70's, either to stay or for a dinner in the beautiful covered veranda. After I moved abroad I tried to stay there, during a visit to family, to no avail. When I arrived I was told that they had a wedding in the garden and it would therefore be too noisy (they never bothered to inform me about that fact, even if I booked short before arrival!). I was then told to stay one of their other hotels nearby, Hotel do Templo, but the room was very gloomy and my whole experience was ruined! When I decided to visit Braga once again I thought that giving it another try, for old times' sake, would be a good idea. Wrong........ The hotel is rather rundown nowadays and I ended up staying in four rooms, during my 3 day stay, two in Hotel do Elevador and two again in Hotel do Templo. The receptionists did they best to try to solve the problems, the management did very little. Dinner was not that good either! This is an experience I will never...
