As other reviews, this small modern hotel is one of few available, but is comfortable and clean.||||This 3 storey hotel on the corner of a side street and Rua Fielho Almeida. It is just below and opposite the Dona Maria Manor House. NB Google Maps show the manor house as below rather than above the hotel. ||||It is modern, and our attractive ensuite room had a small balcony on the top floor, room 308. Good a/c. Flatscreen TV but only Portuguese language - more languages on the TV set in guests' lounge cum bar area on ground floor. However, when Joao was not on duty, the remote disappeared and the TV was tuned to a Portuguese station.||||When we were there, the free wifi was not available in the rooms and poor downstairs and they were waiting for an engineer. It is said normally to be good throughout the hotel.||||Continental breakfast was included - it was ok but basic, and the coffee was weak and basic and the fruit juice diluted (which is not unknown in Portugal).||||An amazingly helpful receptionist Joao was on duty our first evening and could not have done more to assist us. After that, we hardly saw any staff and only spoke to the receptionist when we checked out.||||This is on a main street which runs one way downwards and south through the small town. There are several good restaurants on it. It was harder to find a straight route driving north out of town! Parking is on the street, easy, free, and seemed safe.||||As others, we were birdwatching in the area, and would be happy to stay...
Read moreWe booked this night directly with the hotel, just a one night stopover. The staff are friendly, the room was small but adequate. The shower was good although the bathroom a bit tired and the shower doors tracking badly so difficult to close. The breakfast here was very good.||||However the bed was simply AWFUL. I could cope with it being a small double (4'6") although had expected a larger bed. However both my wife and I found the bed dreadful. It was a hard mattress that sagged in the middle and I could feel some springs. We ended up 'topping and tailing' as this seemed to help us both be a bit more comfortable. We both had a very poor nights sleep. ||I would not consider staying here again as I would be concerned about the state of other beds. Certainly if I had to I would pay more for a bigger room and hope the bed was better. I would also insist on trying the bed before accepting the room.||This was possibly the worst hotel bed I have ever used.||Shame because if the bed had been better I would have given the hotel a...
Read moreA nice Hotel in the village/city of Castro Verde. We were warmly received and welcomed by a friendly Portugese but very well English speaking staff. They took time to help us out in our situation and offered nice ways to help us for which we are grateful. The prices for a night were, we think, normal for a Hotel in this time of year for two persons in a two person bed room including breakfast, roomcleaning etc.
All very well, clean, tidy, taking covid measures into accordance with the cleaning. The Hotel has a very nice old building just across from it. Looks amazing with a vieuw from our room on that building and even partially on the old windmill of this town.
Only minor for us was that our bed felt a bit hard (spring mattress), but we were also sleeping on many different beds and mattresses these days so that might have been a bit too much for us.
Highly adviseable!
Thank you Anna and Hotel...
