Casa da Aldeia — Hotel in Faro

Where shall I start…?!! There’s so much I could write about this amazing place! I will start saying that it was my first time in Algarve and that I didn’t know what to expect at all!!! Pictures can be so deceiving!!! I didn’t know anything about locations and distances… My daughter and I selected this house on Airbnb just because it looked authentic!!! We didn’t want to stay in an IKEA Appartement by the beach!!! We were looking for a beautiful place that would remind us everyday that we were on holiday in Portugal!! Well… it was just a guess… we would have to find out it the place was as nice as it seemed! Well let me summarize it now: IT WAS BETTER THAN ON THE PICTURES!!!! The house was small but soooo beautifully decorated!! It was super clean!!!! I was there with my daughter but I would certainly recommend it to couples as the place was super romantic!!! Lots of white with some blue… I loved the bedroom, the bathroom, the living room, the kitchen, the patio… loved it all!!! Monique did an amazing job decorating the place while I would describe Lex as the PR person: welcoming, super friendly, extremely helpful (!!), always there if you need something! The place is about 15 minutes away from the airport and about 30 minutes from the beach. You do need a rental car if you want to see the surroundings! At first I was a bit lost but Lex gave us many tips and tricks! Before the end of our fist week we were nicely surprised when we got home: Monique and Lex had cleaned the house!! That was awesome!!! The pool was also super nice and we fell in love with the rooftop terrace and the evening view from there!!! I could go on and on and on… so many things I could tell about this beautiful place… The mornings were great while having breakfast on our our little patio… the afternoons are warm and quiet by the pool… and the evenings are enchanting! You won’t know what I mean until you’ve experienced it yourself! I can guarantee you this: you will NOT regret it!!! Santa Barbara de Nexe is a quiet place up on a hill… the surroundings are lovely for an evening walk after dinner… There’s a supermarket, a gas station and a couple of nice restaurants very near if you don’t feel like going to town… One word: it was “AWESOME”! We spent 3 weeks in Casa da Aldeia in December/January and had a wonderful time there. Our concern that it might get a bit cold there in winter was quickly dispelled by the great wood stove and we enjoyed sitting in front of it in the evenings. Thank you Alex for always lighting the fire for us in advance so that we could get into the warm appartment. The facilities in the flat would have worked well for all meals, we just loved having breakfast there overlooking the garden. The bed was comfortable and we liked the mosquito net. The property has a wonderful flair and a very individual touch. The view of the bay of Faro is really fantastic and I enjoyed photographing there both at sunrise and sunset. Just outside of Faro, the friendly & helpful Dutch owners Alex and his wife work hard to satisfy their guests needs providing for a relaxed stay. They have a lot of useful insights about the region and tips authentic/local restaurants.|They serve a complete breakfast with a lot of homemade products on your private terrace. With the sun rising just above the tree peaks gives you nothing more than a best start your day exploring the Algarve.
