he room smelled like cigarette smoke. They couldn't change our room because the hotel “was full”. They refunded that first night and we agreed to stay at the hotel with the commitment that a thorough cleaning would be done the next day to remove any odors.
The next day we realized that they had not done the supposed thorough cleaning that they had promised. In fact, the room had not even been cleaned. Again, I reported it to reception and all they did was change the sheets.
They did not change the curtains that were dirty and smelled of cigarettes because "this 4-star hotel-resort does not have replacement curtains."
I reported that the air conditioning was not working and could not be turned off, the next day they managed to turn it off but never bothered to fix it. The excuse was first that there was no technician during the weekend but during the week, they simply forgot about this issue.
I also reported a light not working, they didn't fix it either.
The dishwasher doesn't work well, you have to wash everything by hand.
The WC was not clean, it had spots of poop.
This hotel is not remotely 4 stars. It is dirty and there is no way they will properly clean the room. The qualities in general are terrible and it has all the shortcomings that you could find in any...
Read moreLike a lot of people here, we made the mistake of trusting booking's reviews and not checking google's. Calling this a resort is quite an overstatement. It is a hotel, period. Even a 4 stars hotel I'd say it would be too much.
First of all, there are only about 5 rooms with sea views, everything else doesnt have them. So if you are thinking about paying extra for a few nights, at least be sure you get one of those, the views are actually quite amazing, but otherwise, absolutely not worth the price. We paid over 200 per night to watch a tree from our window, not even the mountain.
The rooms are comfortable, but old. The AC seems like is still not working and they are not planning to fix it, because I've seen quite a few comments complaining about the AC. Instead they give you a super noisy portable AC and you have to leave the window opened.
Outside pictures are misleading as well, the place is a lot smaller than it looks, and the resort experience is not there, not even close. The small details also fails, they only give you coffee for the first day, after that you have to pay a suplement. I guess the room is not expensive enough to cover the extra...
Read moreMy favourite place to stay in Sao Miguel - highly recommended.
There were so many favourite things about this hotel, to name a few:
A) So spacious room - and I really mean spacious. Some hotel rooms are so small that they only have room for bed making you feel really cramped - this one was far from it. Looked like a small apartment instead 🙂 Everything was nice and in white colours, fancy 😍
B) Big windows - our room was on 2nd floor and one wall was windows from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Plus it has a small terrace looking at the garden. Loved to watch the sunset there (it has nice blinding curtains, don't worry sleepyhead)
C) Breakfast - it was one of the best we had in Sao Miguel - starting from the breakfast room until the way tables were set up (e.g how juice was brought to the table etc) - small things but made it extra special. Also the spread offered was amazing and seemed really high quality.
D) Service - starting from the reception to breakfast - thank you! You know what you're doing and to feel as welcomed - what a wonderful feeling.
