Restaurante Paraíso do Milénio — Restaurant in Lagoa

I don't quite understand the negative to so-so reviews. We just returned from a 2 week trip and and ate at the Paraiso Do Milenio on multiple occasions. I have no relationship with the people who run this restaurant.

The family running the restaurant could not be nicer! Always met with a smile you feel appreciated for being there. The wait staff was extremely friendly. I've been eating Portuguese cuisine for over 20 years (after I met my wife) and our family (Portuguese natives included) were extremely happy with the food.

Really friendly staff, fairly simple food but huge portions and cheap too. Try the bean cake for dessert - delicious! As everywhere on Sao Miguel it seems vegetables are tinned but the rest of the meals we had were very tasty. This also has an excellent view over the town - you can look up to the little church on the hill and watch the kids playing 5-a-side on the football...
