O Malhão — Restaurant in Lagos

OK, take this as honest and objective opinion as has been offered for this restaurant. I will quote a previous commenter - Chris Bolton - "... nice relaxed and calm, the service was fantastic and friendly, the food was superb, they offer many options..." as an opener. Thanks Chris. But more needs to be said of Restaurante O Malhão. Everyone, from the moment you walk through the front door, through the entire sitting to when you go to 'pague a conta' is helpful, pleasant and informative. The food is fresh, succulent and presented with pride. Every single dish, and we tried most of them, was better than any similar dish we had tried anywhere. Whoever is responsible for the cooking and serving of the rodízios at Restaurante O Malhão deserves a Noble Prize. They have shown the utmost of respect to all the ingredients and then served up the most tender and succulent fare to their customers. Today the place was full of Portuguese but I assure that any smart foodlover no matter where they are from would include this place on their "must eat at" list. We pass on our greatest thanks to all the staff from the two young men at the front of house, the 'jovem brasileiro' that served the rodízio and all the back of house kitchen staff for making our lunch one THE best we experienced in Portugal. Finally, the buffet is an A1+ quality, value for money meal but I suggest you fast the day before going there and opt for the BBQ option which takes a meat-centric meal to entirely different level for only a few more dollars. I will not bore you with my pics as many others have posted good shots of the food that do it as much justice as can be...

🚨CAREFUL OF UNDERCOOKED MEAT IN THAT RESTAURANT🚨 I came to have diner in late May 2022 with a company I used to works for and I’ve been served badcooked meat. It turned out the meat was infected with tapeworm larvas. I had all the symptoms a few weeks after that diner and I am now dealing with serious health issues. Even if I am not a vegetarian, I don’t eat meat every week (and less raw meat) so it was very easy for me to target where my health issues are from. It’s been now 10 months I am dealing with significant weight loss (-13kg / - 28,6pds) and major digestion problems.

Thank you O Malhão for the food infection which is now costing me a lot of energy and money. I will never come back in that restaurant unless to complete the “livro de reclamações”. Very thank you...

Initially I gave them two stars...

...I might have given them a higher rating if I'd had had the cash to buy food. They don't accept credit cards, and the one ATM in town was not working. This evening I will find a restaurant that accepts credit cards, or I will starve. Later that day, the ATM was fixed, and my cash supply was refreshed. We went to Xaboita for dinner, and just beat the evening rush. A bottle of wine, salads, and pasta dishes were most satisfactory. The service was friendly and attentive. I hereby raise the rating from 2 to 4 stars. After 2 more visits, I hereby give them five stars. The staff are lovely, good atmosphere, good food....
