A disappointing stay with Live in Holidays.
It's shocking to see here on google reviews that they only respond to positive reviews. Complaints are clearly not taken seriously, just as we had experienced on our holiday.
We were "upgraded" from an apartment to a house. The house was dated and in very poor condition to stay in.
No hot water in the kitchen, and we had a 5 month old baby and bottles to steralise. They had to order a new part and so we were left with no hot water in the kitchen for the duration of our stay.
Air conditioning - only in the bedrooms and none on the ground floor living space. Again not ideal with a baby. I brought this to the attention of "Live in Holidays". They had no other accommodation available with air conditioning in the living room, and offered us a fan.
Fixtures hanging off, such as door handles and wall lights. Beds were in poor condition and it felt as if our double bed would collapse. New mattresses and base are badly needed. The whole bed would move if you turned on it. Non washed blankets were used over our sheets. Top sheet for our double bed was too small - it was for a single bed. Pillows were like a ball of fluff with no pillow protectors. 2/3 of the patio chairs were broken. We had torrential rain during our stay and this came in through our patio door.
I told "Live in Holidays" (property management company), early on into our stay, that I felt the house wasn't in fit condition for anyone to stay in. I asked if they could come down to our accommodation to see it. I was told that they'd get back to me about a visit, but they never did.
Extra costs - €15 a night for travel cot rental. Sun loungers by the pool €4 per person per day. Cash only at the pool bars also.
Cleaning - if you stay 7 days no cleaning. If you stay 8 days, you avail of cleaning once. Otherwise its an extra charge. We ran out of toilet roll and I was told by "Live in Holidays that we'd have to buy our own or pay for cleaning.
All of these were highlighted to "Live in Holidays. We were in the office a number of times, and they were always bewildered by our comments, yet never took the opportunity to act.
Our comments were highlighted once again to the manager and staff at "Live in Holidays" during our check out. Their response was "thanks for letting us know". No remorse and no apology.
The positives that we can add are that the old village grounds are well maintained. Location good, about a 15min walk to the marina Supermarket on site. 3 pools and variety of places to eat.
I would not advise anyone to book through Live...

We are just back from what should have been a relaxing break in Quarteira. The apartment was in a good location, and well equipped, however the positives end there. Check in is complex, and keys to he collected from another town, unless you pay €50 to be met at the property.
That was the least of our worries. The place had what was clearly an infestation of cockroaches. We were finding at least a dozen every night. They were in kitchen cupboards, in the living room and bathroom and latterly we even found them in the wardrobe (which was full of spare bedding etc).
We thought as it was ground floor the odd insect was to be expected, but this was so bad we slept with the lights on and then booked alternative accommodation for the duration of our stay. I wonder if they knew the problem existed and rented to us anyway as the property is still listed for rent, despite assurances from their representative that it would be closed to be deep cleaned.
They handling of my complaint has been appalling, and they have refused any refund or compensation for our extra costs, despite intervention from the travel agent.
They clearly do not care as soon as they have your money. Do not give this Unscrupulous company your hard...
Read moreFirst time using Live in Holidays and would be slow to use them again if that was the standard of apartments. The Old Village is beautifully kept it was such a pity to be so let down with the accommodation. We have used other agents in the Old Village and their offerings were superior. The decor in the apartment is worn and needs to be upgraded badly. In the kitchen the cutlery and crockery were mismatched and some were dirty on arrival. In the bedrooms the "curtains" on the windows were very shabby. The beds were not comfortable and new mattresses are needed. The bathroom was clean but again needs investment. The "shower" was ok but if you are above 5'6" it was far too low. There was a roof terrace the access stairs were very narrow this was not shown in the original photos. My overall view is this apartment is a pure rental and not maintained to a high standard which is very disappointing. On a separate note to sit by one of the pools the cost of sunbeds has increased this year to Eur 4 per day/per bed. Makes the resort less attractive when adding in the...
