Where to start?||The main objective of this getaway was to relax and enjoy the surroundings of this place with all its nature. We could not have asked for more while staying at Joe's Guesthouse.||Right from when we arrived, Gitte welcomed us in a very friendly manner. After all the introductions we were shown to our room and we were delighted. The rooms are vey clean, tidy and very cozy; the rooms (and all the house) were warm (the heating was on) and we could feel like home. The bed was confortable and so were the pillows.||The next day we had a wonderful breakfast with some home cooked pastry.||Since we are very interested in history and archeology we asked Gitte what do they recommend in terms of places to see; we were promptly introduced to Joe and he was kind enough to take us for a ride in his pickup to personally show us all the places!||This is something that I cannot begin to explain you how good it was; Joe patiently took us to some of the most important places throughout the day in his pickup, always explaining the history along the way!||This was a fantastic and unexpected "adventure" that I cannot thank Joe enough! We will for sure return and we recommend everyone that visits Joe's Guesthouse to take some interest in the surrounding history! It is much well deserved and Joe is the best to explain it all to you!||The landscapes are breathtaking and so is the history of all the places we visited, thanks to Joe!||Joe and Gitte, thank you very much for all your hospitality and for this amazing weekend and all the best to your Guesthouse, which is wonderful!||||Best regards,||Filipe...
Read moreI stayed in this guesthouse last June, traveling with a group of friends. We wanted to go to the popular 13th Friday party in Montalegre, and explore that region in the following days. Travel Tailors, the agency that made our reservation, recommended this place, and it was ideal for our objectives. The house is located in a rural setting, with beautiful views to Paradela Dam, with a homelike atmosphere. It is close enough to Montalegre and other destinations in the area, but quiet enough to have some rest if you want to. There are also some trekking routes that you can follow from there, signalized. We did the one to Pitões das Júnias, and it is really worth it. ||The landscapes in the region are stunning, and very different from the other areas of Portugal.||Gitte, the host, is very nice, always ready to help and adapt breakfast to our needs - and her cakes are irresistible!||Although you can ask for a taxi by making a phone call, I would recommend to take your own car, as it is a small place and if you visit the surroundings it is better to go at your won pace and stop whenever you want.||Ah, and the price/value is...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse. It is located in a beautiful and quiet area, with great views from the balcony and on the property. The hosts are extremely kind and welcoming, and the breakfasts were amazing - homemade and very generous. The house is a perfect base for exploring the Peneda-Gerês National Park. The hospitality of the owners was unparalleled, and we would love to go back for another visit. If you stay there, pay attention to all of the wonderful ironwork pieces that were made by one of the owners....
