You can not underestimate the love that the hosts and owners Fernanda & Miquel put into this gem. Located in a small remote village in Geres Park, this is our third stay in foot years there was perhaps best experience of our entire trip to Portugal. OK details about the hotel, rooms were modern, amazing bathrooms, incredible beds and views. The pool (salt not chlorine) is something you would find at a 5 star resort in the US, but for only 6 guest rooms, your own private oasis, but I save the best for last, the food and the hospitality. Breakfast more than you could imagine, but save rooms for lunch or dinner. They either raise or locally source all their own products. One day they brought us a simple salad poolside, we watched their daughter harvest the veggies. If you eat meat, the cured pork, think Iberian ham, prosciutto, sausage was the finest I ever tasted, even sorry to say better then our travels in Emilio Romano. We can not wait to return to spend time, love fight laugh and drink with our new friends Fernanda & Miquel. Did I mention for ease for us language impaired tourists, they speak fluent english and much more. And yes the GR-50 extensive hiking trail network is just out their front door. They are happy to pack...
Read moreFantastic restaurant in a beautiful location! The warmest welcome from the owner Fernanda who was incredibly helpful and gave suggestions for things to do. The restaurant is set in a beautiful village with amazing views, it's a beautiful quiet location with the only disturbance being goat and cow bells as the animals are herded down the lane. The food was lovely and everything was locally farmed near to the village. We ate fantastic ham cured in the village and rib eye, although vegetarian and vegan options were available. Dessert consisted of gorgeous locally grown pears poached in wine and delicious creme brûlée. We also had the breakfast buffet with Fernanda's own honey, local cheeses and everything else you could want. If you want a relaxing out of the way stay then I can't recommend enough....
Read moreA hidden gem. Great views, great service, great amenities. The owner speaks perfect English. We had Bungalow 3, which was amazing. If you want food in your room, go to the grocery store in Braga, because we did not see any closeby. However, a truck comes to the village every few days and sells produce. This is a B&B in American parlance. There are hikes directly from the village. You can also drive to other hiking sites. Or you can simply relax to the sound of cowbell and shepherd's hollers. Infinity edge pool! When to drive into town the first time, turn off your GPS and follow the signs to Casa Albelo. The signs take you on the more...
