Palacete da Real Companhia do Cacau - Royal Cocoa Company Palace — Hotel in Montemor-o-Novo

We parked up outside the hotel (free parking right in front) and then explored the town until 3pm when the room was available. No-one answered the door bell so had to phone them. It turned out that there was only one member of staff on duty and she was busy packing chocolates in the factory and hadn't heard the door bell. She was very apologetic. We were given a tour of the restored palace which was fabulous. ||||The room we had been allocated was in the old stable block. We had a choice of 2 rooms so picked the one that most appealed to us. Our room was very quirky and had lot of large pieces of wood cemented into the floor which created a barrier between the bedroom and bathroom area. I liked it very much. The room was large and very comfortable as was the bed. The lighting though was quite dim and so the room was quite dark. We were offered afternoon tea at 5pm so spent some time playing pool in their games room until then. The tea was lovely with home made savoury scones and coconut cake - all delicious and an unexpected surprise. After that, we were offered a tour of the chocolate factory and were given a couple of chocolates to taste. They were exceptional. The lemon cream chocolate was one of the best I've ever tasted - thin crunchy shell with the most divine home made filling.||||We ate out locally so didn't experience the evening meal there. We had breakfast the next day though. All the food was prepared fresh to order and was really good. ||||We very much enjoyed our one night stay and should I ever want to revisit Montemor-o-novo would certainly...

Everything was excellent! ||Hosts (Sandra and Moisés) extremely kind. Staff (Mónica, Rita, Sara) always concerned with our well being. At the arrival, we were surprised with an upgrade of our reservation, for a better suite. We were offered a 5 o'clock tea and home made divine hot scones. The first day they served it inside as the weather was rainy. The next, was a great sunny day and it was served by the pool. ||Fantastic continental breakfast. And what to say of dinner? We recommend making a reservation to enjoy an excellent dinner and a visit to the chocolate factory where the finest chocolate is made.||In short: Fantastic 2 night stay. I went to Palacete Real Companhia do Cacau with my boyfriend during the summer and I could not be happier for that decision.|The bedroom is spacious and the decor is really nice. The bed is one of the most comfortables that I have slept one.|The owners are very sweet and made our trip even more special. They told us all about the palace renovation, guided us on a tour at the chocolate factory, and made us feel at home.|It is such a privilege to stay in a seclude place, waking up to the birds and have an early swim, while staying in the historical centre of the town.|Really recommend the stay and be sure to buy...
