We stayed at this campground in June. The woman at check in showed us the map of the site and warned us of tree roots at the back of the site. We knew we would stay just one night and with this warning of poor pitches, we asked her to tell us the best place for easy parking and exit. On the map, she circled for us the area in front of the pool. We took her recommendation and parked in this grassy area. The place was great until we went to leave and crossing the grass found ourselves stuck (7.5 meter campervan) up to our wheel wells in a sand pit. The maintenance man tried to help with his tractor, but it was far too small to pull us free. He said he knew someone with a larger tractor who could come for €35. I thought it strange then that he knew the price off the top of his head. When the tractor arrived, the tractor pulled us out and we were finally able to leave. I thanked the farmer, and he said he'd already been out that week for someone else and three times this season. This rang further alarm bells to me, as it was very clearly obvious that the campground knows of this problem. On our way out, I stopped at reception to address the issue and request a refund of our costs. The young person at the desk got immediately defensive saying it wasn't her fault. I asked her to phone the management to address the issue of the previous woman telling us to park in this location, which was a known hazard without any signage to indicate the hazard. The manager wouldn't speak to me and said to the defensive check-in person that they couldn't refund the cost of the stay or the tractor fees but that we could try to send an email requesting a credit for a future stay! We absolutely DO NOT recommend this campsite to anyone with a campervan as it's full of known hazards and completely...
Read moreGreat camping place near Nazaré! We (3 ppl, 1 car and a tent) paid less than 25€ for a night, including showers, pool area, WiFi and fresh water access. The receptionist was friendly and helpful in all aspects. You also have a chance to buy some nessesaries here. (Water, Softdrinks, beer, bread, jam etc.) Laundry machine and dry are available for additional 6€ each. (Absolutely fair!) Everything is clean and super calm. Even though the location is close to the highway, you don't hear any noise during the night. Surrounded by pine trees you got lots of shade. Sanitaries, fresh water and electricity are always nearby. The bathrooms are clean and in good shape! (I don't understand ppl complaining about the sanitaries, what are you expecting on a camping trip? A yakuzee? Sauna?) 6 out of 5 stars for the shower. Always hot water with amazing pressure! The only thing I missed a little bit was something like a BBQ area (or I just didn't found it)
And! I absolutely don't get the ppl complaining about the bathrooms. You are on a camping place, what are you expecting? A yakuzee? Sauna? For the once who got stuck in the sand, you see that the underground is not made to drive in, don't do it! Book a hotel next time! The once complaints about the "enormous mountains" you need to climb. Sorry! Bit you are in Portugal! You guys provide a perfect spot with great service! Thanks for hosting us! We will come...
Read moreIt’s a lovely campsite just outside Nazare, but it more suited to tents than campers or motor homes. The camping area is very hilly and uneven with the lack of level area. The ground can be very sandy in areas and you need to be aware of this. The site is covered mainly by pine trees and very shaded for the summer months which should keep you cool, but no good for slot panels. The toilets are very clean, but quite small with 2 showers/ 4 x WC/ 1x urinal and 4 sinks. So expect queuing during the summer months. When we arrived the 3 cars with tents and one caravan hand taken the flat areas, so it took some hunting for a flat pitch and we had a VW T4. The cafe and shop were under renovation, so couldn’t really comment on these. Nazare although not far away is not a straight forward walk if your not fit, as it’s a very long steep walk down and even a longer walk back. You can wave a bus down at the entrance of the campsite, but can be full of people already, cost 2 euros, it’s about every hour until 7pm for week days, but...
