Hakuna Matata Hostel — Hotel in Odemira

This owner makes me wait three hours outside, even though the beds were ready (easily visible through the windows). Why stick to this late checkin time of 3pm so strictly? Other hostels along the route are way more flexible.

But even worse, the owner asks for my 'vaccination card', implying I had a vaccine. I explain the owner I had natural infection four months ago and so I don't need a vaccine. Then he makes me take a covid test, even though days before the Portuguese government removed these kind of restrictions. It just felt very intrusive and unneeded. Besides it lacks rational thought because I have natural immunity and people with vaxx can carry and transmit covid as well. Seems like the employee just enjoys exercising power over customers (most places are fully booked so I couldn't change lodge after having waited for three hours).

Actually the facilities in the place were nice but I never could enjoy my stay because the employee treats its customers like some kind of plague. I spent three weeks in Portugal and never had to take a medical exam upon arrival...

The worst experience so far with a hostel. Nothing Hakuna Matata about this place. I am hiking with a group of 8 highly developed and intelligent people, and our oldest member needed a day of, so he arrived 20 minutes before the rest of the group. That was apparently enough to piss the hostel host off. ||||The owner was aggressive and threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave the place. We pretty quickly decided not to waste anymore negative energy on the guy, and found another place. Non of us wanted to sleep in that house anyway. I highly recommend you to stay away from this toxic place, someone is for sure struggling and didn’t get the message to...

My friends and I were hiking in a group of 5 along the Fisherman’s Trail, and after an incredibly long 22km, this was a wonderful hostel to stay and relax at. ||They have a kitchen for public use, nice downstairs sitting area, balcony, and also an adorable book nook for those rainy rest days. Owners are incredibly kind and friendly and met us with a smile. The hostel is also located less than 5 minutes away from the beach and next to some great restaurants. ||10/10 would recommend someone...
