Lisbon Country Villa — Hotel in Oeiras

This experience was a disaster from the start. The day of arriving, we were called and told that a bachelorette party would have exclusive use of the pool. This was disappointing because the main appeal for booking this place was for the kids to swim in the pool - especially during a heat wave. When we arrived, the apartment was not ready for us anyways and we looked down at the pool to see that it was deserted. We called management and was told it would be OK for our kids to swim even though the party's personal belongings and floaties were strewn all over. Soon after however, the girls came back and gave us dirty looks to get out. Meanwhile our son got a big gash on his foot on the stone tiles around the pool. I showed the caretaker who was "cleaning" our apartment and she didn't offer any bandaids or help. She and her husband are the ones who live on site watch over the property. We ended up having to drive to a store to purchase first aid. Once the room was ready, we saw that it was not a 2-bedroom apartment that we booked. It was a Studio with no room divisions and our 2 kids would have to sleep on the pull out couch which wasn't even made. The caretaker just gave us the keys and made no mention of it, hoping we wouldn't notice. After I told management over chat, she came back and tried to convince us that it was an upgrade!! Then she showed us the adjacent 2-bedroom apartment that we should have gotten, and even though it was not even booked for the night, it was still messy from previous guests. She made up some ridiculous excuse why it was not a better option but really, she just didn't want to clean it!!! We spent 2-3hr dealing with them on these issues and having to keep talk to the manager on the phone. Just to add further insult, when we got into bed that night - we lifted the bedspread and there weren't even sheets! The mattress was BARE. She didn't even make the bed!! Obviously we cancelled the rest of our stay and had to spend time booking another place downtown, re-packing and wasting half a day until the next check-in. In the end, they didn't charge us, but the time and stress is non-refundable. The manager needs to be on-site or hire...

We stayed here for three nights in June. The stay was okay, but could've been a lot better. It seems like there was a recent change of ownership, and the new owners seemed to be a bit laissez-faire when it came to caring for the place.

What was good: the accomodation is spacious, set in a nice location and it's a surprisingly short time from Lisbon centre, even reachable by Uber.

What was less good: the place was filthy. When we'd walk from the shower to bed, our feet were black. The living room smelled like a mix of fireplace and wet dog. The pool had a lot of tiles missing and wasn't clean. When we arrived the owners welcomed us and left, but then we realised there were no towels. The owners were gone already and they didn't respond on WhatsApp. Kinda annoying when you want to take a shower after a long flight. There were no toiletries offered, so bring your own shampoo/shower gel. I've seen pictures of great breakfasts, but nothing was offered or available. The appartment had a coffee machine, but there were no cups. No kitchen towels in the kitchen. The owners have a cute, old dog. But they left him outside all night, resulting in a wet dog barking to be let in. Meanwhile the owners weren't even at the place. There was also dog poo in the grass in front of our door. Lastly, the owners held a party on one of the nights, resulting in noise disturbance. Oh and before I forget: no aircon. I'd advise you to not stay here when temperatures go over 24 degrees. When we stayed here it was a comfy 20 degrees but we still woke up sweaty. Don't want to imagine how it is when the outside temperatures go up.

We stayed here for one night and it was enough. The location is excellent, owner is very kind and the property itself is beautiful and the bed is very comfy but there are a few issues. We stayed in the new villa and the house smells like sewer, the smell was coming from the kitchen area. The shower was clearly not cleaned well as their were hairs and who knows what on the ground, The walls separating guest spaces are not soundproof at all and the guests next door to us were super loud till past 11pm at night which kept us up late even though we had a flight in the morning that we had to wake up at 4am for. There’s zero privacy for yourself and other guests, everyone had their shutters closed or mostly closed because people were able to see inside super clearly when sharing the common area/playground.
